D J JAM MO JAY BE NO MO.

Haha a black person was killed let's make fun of them by mocking stereotypical broken English </vitriolic sarcasm>

I'm guessing you know as little about Run-DMC as I do, but you feel perfectly comfortable laughing at the death of one of its members?

Jam Master Jay was a wonderful (and clean) rap pioneer. He did not need to rap about "bitches" or "hoes", or about fantasies of murder. His songs are fun and upbeat, and one of the highlight of the 1980s. He will be missed by myself and my wife.

The only rap album I've ever owned and ever will was by Run DMC, King of Rock. I was in high school when I bought it and from time to time, still dust it off and take a listen.

No cursing, no treating women like dogs, no talk of killing cops. Fun good time music intended to be just that. Unfortunately Run DMC fell out of the rap scene when Gansta rap became so popular. You have to give it to them, they refused, even with million of dollars to be made, to start recording nauseating crap that's so prevalent in rap these days.

Rest in peace.

As a LONG time Aerosmith fan, I must point out that their careers were over.........due to excessive drug use more than anything else...........when Run DMC's rap mix of "Walk This Way" hit the airwaves. It was such a smash hit that it allowed for Aerosmith's reemergence on the rock scene. Of course, their management spent a fortune running all of 'em through rehab......and even then they literally had to audition to get a recording contract (their reputations had been sullied by years of drug-induced sloppy performances, etc., etc.; they had to prove themselves worthy of such significant record company investment).

I've seen interviews where Tyler and Perry will point out the release of Run DMC's remix as a true turning point in their lives as well as their careers.

One of the dangerest parts of being in the rap world (especially if you are a producer) is that you often have to tell street thug, wannabees, that they have no talent.

"Oh no, another virtuoso musician gone!"

I am just too old and out of touch, somehow I can't quite put this in the same category as the death of Duke Ellington. Someone please explain how rap got to be called music. By the way, I do realize you were being sarcastic.
