On the news they said it was in the Jamaican part of town, so that probably enough motive there. Wonder if he knew John Mohammad.

The place where it happened is named Jamaica. It's the County Seat for Queens County NY.

"nothing nearly as wholesome as our parents music..lsd trips, smokin'dope, cheap sex, tuning in and dropping out, revolution. and they wonder why the baby boomers are aptly described as "the Worst Generation"

Speak for YOURSELF. My parents never listened to trashy music like you mentioned. My dad's favorite song was HOW GREAT THOU ART. I am almost 52 and during college in the late 1960s, early 1970s, I registered to vote REPUBLICAN and voted for Nixon. Remember President Bush is from my generation. Many of us were decent, went to college, got jobs, got married, had kids, in that order. The ones you mentioned are not the majority of my generation -- they are now the liberal democrats running the Demoncrazy party! Don't you realize that there are many conservatives from the Baby Boomer generation????? Your comment would be like my saying (untruthfully) that all teenagers are delinquent rotten kids. My kids are 18, 19, and 21 and they are very conservative, too, not bad kids! I am a law abiding, conservative, honest, patriotic, pistol totin, Bible thumpin, America lovin, apple pie bakin, God fearin Baby Boomer!

Unfortunately they became a ballad band. There's only one or two listenable songs per album... if you're lucky. And the radio hits all make me want to poke pencils through my ears to end the suffering ("Jaded", or as my wife likes to call it "whine, whine, whine", off the new one being the most horrendous example of how bad Aerosmith has become). I'll take the pre-rebirth Aerosmith any day, they were a rock and roll band.

I wonder if he was shot by JW 'Jam Master' Booth?

And just when you thought it couldn't get any worse!

"Dat be da Ainglish yo gwine be speakin when da bruthers cum to powa. Won't it be wonderful to live in a "diverse" world where my awful southern white male tendencies can be controlled for the good of mankind? "

A little paranoid, don't you think, Rip? As a fellow southern white male, I don't fear the desecration of the english language by "bruthers" in power any more than the desecration I hear coming out of my slack-jawed redneck friends' mouths. The fact is JMJ and Run DMC were talented, positive influences on young people of all colors, and although his death is not the most important news of the day, it is worthy of our reverence. If there were more entertainers like JMJ in the world, perhaps our urban youth culture wouldn't have as pessimistic a world view as it currently does.

Can you back that up?

From the comments above, he was nothing like you assume.

Can't disagree with a thing you said. The "old Aerosmith" just rocked. Their newer material leaves me cold, as well. As a longtime guitar slinger, I loved their stuff that just drove. Maybe.......just maybe........they'll become a rock 'n roll band again.

Adidas Bump

A "round his back, thru the hoop" bump.
Tonight, at this bar (Federalist Society mixer) run by a very conservative guy that goes to my lawschool, the DJ played several Run DMC songs. Everybody had a good time listening to it, and all sang along. :)
"...that DJ made my day."

Who are you referring to? I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you are on the wrong thread. I'll even give you the benefit of the doubt that you thought you read that somebody like the Sniper was killed. I say this because nobody in their right mind would charge Jay with this.
Whatever the reason for his death, it's sad b/c a hip-hop legend that a lot of us grew up with was murdered.

Paul's Boutique is a great album (their best, in my opinion), and Run-DMC's "Raising Hell" was really good too, a rap classic.

You obviously have no idea what you are talking about. Run DMC was a model group for pop groups as a whole, let alone rap.
