Ask Bahama Mama!

Hey Mon, and Freepers of all ages:

Picture me, your own Bahama Mama, lolling on a sun-drenched beach on Freeper Island.
Warm, sparkling blue waters all around.  Palm trees waving.  Coconut rum punch nearby.
It's a Freeper holiday.

I'm here to answer all those nagging little questions you may have
about our week-long "Freeps Ahoy" cruise to the Caribbean,
May 31st aboard Carnival's "Triumph", a beautiful and fun Ship.

Things such as: What do I bring to wear?...  Are there any hair dryers in the cabins?...
What are tipping guidelines?...  Can my special diet be accommodated?...
How much cash should I bring?...

Bahama Mama will answer all your questions.  Use the links provided on this page for information on cabins,
fare and reservations, plus other topics of interest and "chat" about our cruise getaway.
This "Bahama Mama" thread will be for questions and answers only.
Please keep on topic.  Some answers may take a little time to research, so be patient.
Bahama Mama will respond to each of you.

If you want a private reply to a special query, send a freepmail to Bahama Mama's stateside moniker, "MinuteGal".

Do I hear reggae music nearby?  I'm off to investigate.  It's such an effort to pull myself off the beach.

Fellow Freepers, follow your heart's desire for a relaxing getaway in the sun.  Register now!
On embarkation day, I'll be waitin' aboard ship to welcome y'all with a big warm tropical hug!

Remember, post your questions to BAHAMA MAMA on this thread.
I'm here to insure smooth-sailing for every Freeper signing on for our fun-filled Caribbean adventure!

Freeper cruises rock!!!

Bahama Mama's mainland alter ego...

Bahama Mama thinks all Freepers belong on a beach like this.
Who could argue with that? Register today.

This page is for questions and answers only.  If you have general comments
please go to the Cruise Announcement page to make them.
Thank you.

Thanks very much Leni, but you did most of the work. You've selected a great cruise and taken care of all the details. I can't wait.

Let's start off with the warm, tropical cruise itinerary!

Saturday, May 31 - Depart Miami port 4:00 PM
Sunday - At Sea
Monday - Cozumel, Mexico 7:00 AM to 12 midnight
Tuesday - At Sea
Wednesday - Grand Cayman 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM
Thursday - Ocho Rios, Jamaica 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM
Friday - At Sea
Saturday - Return Miami 8:00 AM.

FRN activism meetings will be held on the mornings of the "at sea" days. There'll be a grand "Welcome Aboard" cocktail party/mixer for all freepers on embarkation night.

Freeps Ahoy!

Hi, Norm! Wish we could have big-time names aboard this cruise. But it's almost an impossibilty to obtain their presence on a seven-night cruise.

As usual, "notables" will be present at the next FRN national conference later in the year.

Hmmm, I am afraid I will reveal my type A leanings, but can you hook up to the internet on this cruise. I'm wondering if I can link up to my office.

Looks like a beautiful trip, Leni. Unfortunately, it's at the time of year when it's beautiful weather here...if it were Nov., Dec., Jan., Feb., March, even maybe April, escape from winter would be a dream...but, early June is a gardeners best time to be home in Chicagoland!

I'm making a note of your question about internet hookups. There were a few cabins available with internet hookups on our last cruise (Royal Caribbean Line). But special arrangements had to be made for those and I can't guarantee they'll be available to our group block of cabins on this cruise.

However, most cruise ships today have "Internet Cafe" salons where there are computers available lined up like slot machines! They charge by the minute and are pricey if you stay on for any length of time. Checking with your office shouldn't take that long.

I'll find out what the internet arrangements are on Carnival's "Triumph" and post the info here. Give me a couple of days to do the research and then keep checking this thread.

Freeps Ahoy, BahBah!

Thanks, oh great one. I will check in. Then again, how awful would it be to be unavailable to the office for an entire week? Hehehe.

A reminder - You will also find internet cafes or shops in every port at much more reasonable prices then onboard the ship. I got back from a 11 day cruise to Alaska(Regal Princess, sailed out of San Fran too! which was a good way to go for Bay Area folks) in early September and was able to get fast connections at every stop. I don;t think the Caribbean will be a problem for the FReePin' addicts ;-) .

This looks like they thought out the layout. Thanks.

Most, if not all the new ships are up to snuff for internet use. Unfortunately, in-room connections are not the "norm" yet. But why go on a cruise if all yur gonna do is stay in yur cabin, anyway? Unless yur on yur honeymoon;-)
