It's hard to vote against free money for all the good causes, our brave and noble military men and women included. Just one more stop on the road to serfdom.

Not sure what you mean when you say, "It's hard to vote against free money for all the good causes, our brave and noble military men and women included. Just one more stop on the road to serfdom."
Are you saying that free money includes money paid to servicemen, as in freely given without due regard to what is earned? Have I got this right?
Lumping servicemen with those on the dole makes no sense, as it is unfair to draw no distinction between those that do nothing for something and those that do much for comparatively little.
My suggestion has always been to take the vote away from those that elect to become a ward of the state, and that means those that decide to do nothing and let the state take care of them (on the dole). Servicemen do not fall into that category at all. They, more than anyone, earn their compensation and benefits, for without servicemen this great nation would not survive very long. They earn respect and they earn honor, and they also earn whatever pay and benefits paid. Indeed, sitting around in a drugged stupor while waiting for your next welfare check is a far cry from defending this nation and dodging bullets in Afghanistan.
Try and tell the families of the servicemen killed in the service of this great country that their husband/father/son was no different than some drug addict on the dole, and whatever pay and benefits paid while defending this country were not earned.
Now, if I have misunderstood your point, I regret that.
