Perhaps, but it would eliminate your belief in the Teeny weeny peeny myth.
To: billbears
Probably.

CARS????? Mostly pickup trucks, and mostly Chevys. They are louder than 747s and they drive aggressively, which is to say the commit a continuous series of moving violations and endanger the commonwealth.

Maybe.... but you should be aware that

The great majority of women who say they like the sound and rumble are only claiming to, so as to gain favor with club- member menfolk; "Honey, I just love the big, deep manly rumble of your exhaust....Is that a new muffler or are you happy to see me?" Etc. Women who really, really like it are 1) suffering from a hormone imbalance, which brings with it honorary club membership, and/or are deaf.

Exactly when does Huber (probably Esq.) plan to unselfishly fight for citizens everywhere? What percentage of the shakedown does he get?
Speaking from experience with my Pontiac Formula, Flowmaster makes an awesome product. In fact, many Ricers locally to me would agree: they get to hear the rumble of my 350 TPI V8 as the red blur on their left passes by.

Import /vs domestic weekend last weekend at Englishtown......a lot of riceburners showed up. The fastest car there all weekend was a MALIBU WAGON with a big block....running low 8's. Cool BB sound, 200 foot long wheelies!
All the rice burners were pissed, to say the least.

I thought this was a free country!! It is so long as everybody minds their own business and avoids annoying their neighbors.

Well thank you both, I'll go right home and explain to my wife that she's either defective in the head or is lying to me. FWIW, I got out of cars after my teenage years but she never has. The one and only reason I got back into building was out of love for her. I didn't want to get back in because I knew the expense, the time involved , the tweaking that especially has to be done with a new engine. So ladies, are you saying my wife and I can think of about 15 other women, some even drivers, are defective or lying?

Your half-baked psychoanalysis of women is just as offensive as the one concerning men.

If your car is to get you to point B from point A, in reasonable comfort and reasonable convenience... why would you need to "tweak" a brand new car engine?
If you are using your car for something other than this, then yes, my answer is that someone is trying to compensate for something.
To: HELLRAISER II
you can also get 20-25 miles to the gallonLess money to the mid-east is def. a good thing. Take it easy, HR2. Honk when you see me on the road : )

That's O.K. but on the street i'm telling you that when I pull up beside somebody in their daddy bought new Mustang, they have no earthly idea what I'm fixing to do to them. My usual response is Sayanora Sucker!

I sure hope that if you had a problem with somebody you would confront the person & not hurt the car, because if somebody damaged my car on purpose in the middle of the night like a coward they would be toting a serious @ss whipping when I found out who it was.I actually did this (confronted the person & not hurt the car) about this time last year. The neighbors in question actually threatened to kill me if I complained again. They are no longer my neighbors, I didn't take kindly to that.. And I wouldn't do this in the middle of the night. I would also, as a result of past experience, use the police this time. These type of (noisy and intrusive) people have already demonstrated what they are like.
BTW, I'm 220 lbs. and 6'4" and one mean SOB if assaulted. Not many people would do much other than turn around quickly and leave if they were set out to to whip my @ss and then found out who I was. As for the few that might not?
Well ... I suppose that I should be out of jail before they were out of the hospital.

why would you need to "tweak" a brand new car engine?Well let's see shall we? I just rebuilt my engine in my car. Instead of buying a new car, I used what I already had saving myself about $29,000. I know this is going to come as a complete and utter shock to you but new parts do take some time to break in. After that break in period, there are going to be some things that do need to be taken care of. Springs, rocker arm adjustments, etc. Yes I could leave them as is when I put the engine together in the first place but it will affect my performance and in the long run can affect the life of the engine
This car was built for street/strip, to be used for both applications. As I said, I got out of cars years ago, but my wife still loves it and I did this for her, per her request. I know this will probably confuse your suburbanite minivan mind but not all women have locked themselves into the mindset of 'cars are evil'
If you are using your car for something other than this, then yes, my answer is that someone is trying to compensate for something.
Appreciate that. Good lockstep you've got there. Agree with the masses or you're wrong? Down with individualism, drive a minivan or SUV? Do it for the children? Well you've apprently got us all locked into a little box like a good liberal (that is one of their trademarks you know, stereotyping). I think a 5 billion dollar a year business and the fastest growing sport in this nation dispels your myth it's all 'compensating'. And would my Southern manners allow me, I'd tell you exactly what I think. But I won't. Good day

You're especially right in the import scene, watch NOPI Tunervision on Sunday morning on TNN. I think it's about 10;30 or 11;00 a.m. Alot of women are there just to shake their booty's for the Bikini contest, but there are a lot of them there sporting their car's. That's a fact.

Substantial improvements can be made on brand new engines because the makers often use the cheapest, not the best components. (Do pretty girls use make up becuase they're trying to compemsate for something or are they just trying to get the most out of what they have?)
Practically all engines will pick up power, and get better mileage (that's right, MORE mileage) by installing a high flow intake system (K & N or similar air filter) and modified exhaust system. A Cat-back system DOES NOT replace the catalytic convertor. It replaces everything after it. Typically you would expect 2-5 mpg increase and more power. How much more depends on how cheap the manufacturer was with the original parts.
Your attitude towards cars sounds like you're an appliance operator, not a driver. My wife has a 70 mile round trip commute every day. She looks forward to driving her 5 speed 3 series BMW with K & N intake because it's FUN. Try driving something that responds immediately, with enthusiasm, that seems to read your mind and you might have a different outlook.

You did the right thing then, I have new found respect for you simply for the fact that you handled it like a man and did not take it out on somebody's ride. I to am a big fellow that doesn't take any $hit either at 6'2" and 290 lbs I wouldn't have threatened you at all, I probably would've just said I'm sorry and I would have slowed down through your neighborhood. But like I said if you would have screwed with my ride we would have scrapped and that was my only point. Remember not all of us are @ssholes.
To: Carbonsteel
nd what exactly is your idea of "excessively loud"? I mean since you seem to know what I drive.Anything that disrupts the peace of my home while I'm inside it. Most noise ordinances have decibel specifications which are generally more stringent than my standards are.
In fact, I thought it was illegel for a street legal vehicle to be on the road without one.
They (mufflers) are required here. Cats are required for emissions here as well, it is illegal to remove them. I believe that cats ( but not mufflers) are required under federal law for any street use anywhere, but some areas don't have local enforcement regualations about this.
