Man, from that description I'd think you were in Wisconsin or someplace like that. < /joke joke joke warning will robinson>

No worries...when they come knocking at your door just tell them that you will not join their flock of sheeple...

I must be lucky then. At the University of Maryland, I've seen more Libertarian chalkings on the sidewalk than dem or rep. The signs/bumber stickers are pretty even between the dems and reps, and the only people who approach you are the LaRouche junkies.
Since the Green candidate is a write-in in MD, USPRIG/MARYPRIG never rallied the troops.

Number of people I've seen wearing Coleman or Republican-related stickers, buttons, etc: 0 I hope this means you don't use mirrors. ;-)

Better yet, yack them up. Stall them, time is one of their resources you should feel free to waste. They are after more from you.

Thanks for the report.
I was almost a U student 30 years ago, I went in the U of SMC (Marines) instead. Sometimes I regret it, not often tho. I wanted to be a lawyer ;-).
What's your end game?

You're right about the U of M. I came to MN about 4 yrs ago after graduating from a large public university back east, and was amazed at the radicalism down there compared to anywhere else I've ever been. There are some book stores I like there but it's hard to put up with the people and signs everywhere. It's like being in the middle of a socialist PR machine. I went to the Bob Dylan concert last week and was just in awe of the shirts and jackets these U of M kids had on. The "Hands of Afghanitan coalition"? What the hell is that? I wonder if there parents out in Minnetonka know where there money is going.

Since I arrived here two months ago I cannot count how many times I have been bombarded with politcal trash from the left, right, and center. This opening statement is inconsistent with the rest of the post. ???

No, I haven't met him. I haven't even heard of him. (And that appears to be a good thing)

Most of my life I've heard of "Madison Liberals".
I can't image UW-Madison being more liberal than UMN, but I guess it's possible.
I've been working at UMN for close to 8 years, and despite my office being mostly conservative, there is a definite liberal miasma that permeates this campus.
In my case, flying the conservative flag would probably be a career limiting move.

On the other hand, on Snelling Ave. in St. Paul this morning I saw a minivan with a Coleman for Senate bumper sticker and another that said "Have Gun Will Vote".

It looked to me like zapiks44 findings show that Republicans aren't campaigning on election day.

The University of Minnesota
is a leftist bastion of hatred.
I know
I graduated from there in 1994.
A couple of examples for everyone? OK...
1993. I'm sitting in a small (by UM standards -- 80 people) English Lit class. I'm wearing my BDUs since it's a Thursday and I'd had lead lab that morning for ROTC. The prof looks at me and says, "People like you are why we have so many problems in this country."
I take a look back at her and say, "People like me are why people like you can be utter b*tches in public."
This had a negative impact on my grade...but it was worth it.
*****
1994. Leftist groups attack the ROTC program for the millionth time during my college career. They want to kick ROTC off campus, since homosexuals aren't allowed to be contracted cadets.
I write a letter to the editor saying that the policy of DoD is not a policy made by local cadets who've been being blasted in the Minnesota Daily and being verbally abused on campus. I make the point that, as a land grant University, the UofM is required BY LAW to have ROTC on campus and that the removal of programs would have negative effects on the U's federal funding.
For this I'm labeled as not only a homophobe...but "probably a racist, too."
Reactionary liberal leftwing ideology. It's part of the degree requirement at my home state's flagship University.
I'm ashamed.

Interesting story. Got any other tips for me to survive here? (I'm thinking of joining the ROTC too)

LOL!!! Well done!
From my brother's stay for his Masters degree at the St. Paul campus, fall 1990(?):
while on the main campus in Minneapolis, he got to see the anti-Gulf War
dweebs be slowly, but persistently, menaced by a "herd" of big, beefy, muscle-bound guys.
The wussy protestors basically "kept moving" around the U. campus in Minneapolis, hoping
the real men would go away...but it didn't happen...basically the wusses just
melted away into the night and retired to their democRAT-holes.
IIRC, my brother said he thought the band of patriots were porbably a mix of football
players and ROTC.
