Senator Smith to Senator Jeffords: "Sure, you can use changing sides to your own personal, great advantage. Just go with the ones that give the best deal. I went independent and they gave me a great committee assignment to get me back. Now, I'm on easy street. What's the worst that could happen? The Republicans will treat you like a prince to get you back, the democrats will treat you like a prince to keep you. We both have really got it made!!"

This is too luxurious. He should be assigned the third hole in the privy with hill and bill betting the other two (the ones with no paper).

Word has just come in that Senator Jeffords's new office will be in the
Mare Serenitatis district.

I think you are dreaming. Lott will be Mr. Nice and let Jeffords have his pick of office space as a concilatory jesture. Mr. Compromise will not want to look mean and spiteful.
I really believe this.

I had heard that Sen Reid's wife had barged in on a meeting between Senator Nichols and a constituent in 2000 when the leadership went Dem. It seemed that the office "needed" to be redecorated for her "new leadership" husband and this was the only time the decorator could measure for new drapes. Such audacity!
Hope Reid's drapes fit his new office!

I would give a Lott just to be able to stand in the hallway while Jeffords (or his staph, while he hides in a bar somewhere) moves the stuff out of his office.
In fact, in my mind's eye, I see myself in a group of evil, mean-spirited, grandmother-starving, baby-killing Republicans like myself, leering gleefully at the spectacle...
Ach, mein Schadenfreude... < < tsk, tsk, tsk... > >

Well, after 1 1/2 years of kissing Daschle's ass, at least he has a better view.

Maybe someone with better image skills than I can redo the signs on this new Jeffords office to better reflect his new status.

What's the problem? Wood paneling, lots of windows, nice view, cozy...

Trent should at least allow him to put his name on the door of his new digs.
