Much like in California, in Oregon, the Dems win in Ecotopia along the coast, the college counties, and in Portland.

Mannix would have won if Oregon did not have "vote by mail" elections. Mannix began to steadily surge in the last two weeks, peaking by election day. His opponent was still far enough ahead when the ballots were mailed out to eke out a win.

You're right. However, Cox (L) deliberately ran as a spoiler. It was strange that we didn't have anyone (Green) opposing Kulongoski.

Kulongoski is now the Governor of Multnomoh County.

BTW, it's not widely known but, in 2000, Multnomah and Lane counties kept their polls open later than the other counties. Bush lost by approximately 5000 votes. Coincidence? I think not.

There was a Green Party person to run as governor. I can't remember his name, but the Dumb-as-craps talked him out of running.

Please post your source on this. I lived in Oregon then and never heard anything about any polls being open at all, since it is all vote by mail.

It was common knowledge in the Metro area. Also, several local radio talk show hosts have talked about it during the last few weeks.

The "polls" are drop off points after time has passed to mail in ballots.

Yeah, I heard about this. Too bad Cox had to be such a Clymer.
