Why Did The Democrats Lose?
NA | Yooper

Posted on 11/07/2002 4:03:04 PM PST by yooper

We've spent two days now listening to various theories as to why the Democrats were taken to the woodshed on Tuesday night; none that I've heard have really explained the defeat in total. Poor liberal turnout, the despicable Wellstone pep rally, a lack of focus and message by the liberal party, and other various theories, have been bandied about ad nauseum. Now it's time for the most intellectual board on the web, Free Republic, to weigh in.

Why Did The Democrats Lose?

Gee, I don't know. They always had such a grand vision of love, freedom, and prosperity. /sarcasm

With an effective Republican Attorney General and a Republican President who were both negatively effected by vote fraud in the last election, the Republicans were motivated to keep the Democrat's vote fraud to a minimum this year.

Why Did The Democrats Lose?

Unfortunately, in the once-great state of Daleyland, they didn't. Ever since the Democrats won the governorship four years ago with the added bonus of doing so under the "Republican" ticket, this state has been an absolute disaster. I just wish someone would come out publically and repudiate King George; he makes Charles Schumer look conservative.

It couldnt be that people were tired of the libs and the dems demanding that money go to teens who want an abortion without parental consent, instead of the military and intelligence services, could it?

How about that shocking display in Minnesota the other night and putting it on the Wellstone kids?

Or perhaps, people just equate Dems as America Haters and Islam-apologists?

1) Emphasis on pet leftist social causes alienated all of Red Nation, many in Blue Nation.
2) No realistic message on current economic minidepression; no plausible explanation of specifically how they'd get us out of it.

Through the Homeland Security Agency gridlock, the Democraps were exposed as being sellouts to the labor unions (which give 12 dollars to Democrats for ever 1 dollar given to Republicans). Americans are sick of tax-subsidized federal civil servants, as they are rarely civil and hardly consider themselves to be servants of the public. It's still next to impossible to fire any of them, but President Bush is making it his top priority as is documented at:

Go W. Go!

It was our national security that won it. Not to mention the Wellstone/DNC rally!

and the fact democrats are stupid commies and evil!

it was not the economy!

Yeah, I'm sure the DemonRats really impressed the swing-voters by dancing on Wellstone's grave.

Or perhaps, people just equate Dems as America Haters and Islam-apologists?

And I can't find a reason why they're wrong in seeing the Dems that way.

"Just send us all of your money and you, too, can be a welfare recipient for life! You'll have the freedom to smoke crack and get all the abortions you want!"

What a wonderful message to the people of America.

Their policies are bad. Americans don't agree with them. People want lower, not higher taxes.

People know Saddam is a huge threat and want him removed, they don't want Carter style diplomacy.

They understand that corruption will not be solved be demagogary, only police work, which the Republicans from Guilliani to Bush seem much better at than Reno and Mary White ever did.

Gun control will not make us safer.

We have enough federal parks and environmental laws.

The reason some people still have problems in America is not that we haven't given enough money to help the poor.

In summary Americans don't agree with many of the Democratic basic policy positions. The Dems choose the most strident supporters of these positions to represent them, which makes the problem worse. Hillary, not Zell Miller is the face of the Dems.

But the root is the policies. This is what politics is all about. The pundits can't get over the tactics and personalities. But the results were too widespread for that to be the deciding factor.

When they start admitting their policies are failed they will be on the track to winning some more elections.

Given how the party is structured, that might be a long time. It turns out Clinton's DLC cat didn't remove the McGovernite rat infestation. And then it turned out the cat was rabid and had fleas. Now they need a big dog to fix it, but instead they have little poodles: Daschle, Hillary, Boxer, Pelosi. They can't even clean out the Clinton faction, much less the green idiots and black panthers who've infested the party.

I think the DC Sniper was heaven sent to help the Republican Party keep the US electorate focused on the war on terrorism during the weeks leading up to the election, rather than, say, prescription drugs.

And the denouement, where all the Lefty mass media talking heads who staked their credibility on the NOI's Muhammad being a white Republican, were shown to be abysmally wrong, was the icing on the cake that then wound up on the faces of McAwful and the WH Rapist during their jig on Wellstone's coffin.

What a wonderful message to the people of America.

Not anymore! The people have spoken! No more taxes for government funded sex-changes, no more blaming Bush for the economy, no more foolish enviro-whacko legislation foisted on us, and a personal favorite; No more Senate MAJORITY Leader Tom Daschle!

Right on. For this to happen, there had to be a BUNCH of Demo voters that changed their minds.

The core Democratic leadership is composed of angry, bitter, crude, opportunistic, self-serving America-hating marxists. They no longer have Clinton to paper over their malice, and now their evil is seeping out at the seams.

The radical elements of the party have been indulged and they have high expectations. They see standing firm against the USA as their liberal sacrament. The party is totally shot, IMO unless they come up with another shyster.

1) Baghdad Bonier and Jihad Jim - Saddam, Saddam, he's our man, if he can't do it no one can.

2)The Wellstone Fune-rally - Yucking it up at a memorial service is too much for any normal person to take.

Hillary, not Zell Miller is the face of the Dems.

You are correct. The Clintons, not just Hillary, are too vain and sociopathic to grasp the fact that people recoil at the very sight of her and her booze addled and cocaine addicted, sex offender of a husband. I was paid a remarkable compliment yesterday; Someone I debate at work, a hardcore liberal, said I influenced him and his wife to vote for Talent by hammering on the corruption that dems use as policy. He also said he was sick to death of the Clintons.
