This article by Daniel Henninger of the Wall Street Journal and an article posted earlier tonight by Mark Steyn really say it all, except for one point. I believe the republican and some independent/democrat voters raised their eyebrows in disbelief at the audacious move by Torricelli and the Democrat party in New Jersey to circumvent the impending Torricelli loss. While that was fresh in the minds of everyone, the even more blatant activities in Minnesota during the aftermath of Senator Wellstone's death crystalized the determination to finally put these usurpers back in the box.
