Ford is not a dummy. Ford is probably the most dangerous. He can package up anything and make it sound non-threatening. He's talented that way.
With Frost dropping out I put him as the front-runner. He will have the black caucus and most likely the blue dogs will hold their nose and choose the lesser of two evils. Ford is one to watch. He's an ambitious one.

NOW vs the NAACP. It will be interesting. The dems have to throw a bone to blacks, but will it be this big a bone? Will blacks remember in two years. If it doesn't go to the woman will NOW have a fit? They don't have as many constituents but they are a money factory to Dems. Oh, decisions, decisions.
If they choose the black guy do they lose their union racists voters, who couldn't even vote for McCall? It will be interesting to watch their factions eat each other.

Although I don't have any special knowledge about Ford, I'd agree that there is something very creepy about him. So slick, he can only remind you of one other Dem . . .
Pelosi is a hard-line lefty and doesn't bother to try to hide it. Ford is so much smoother.
Still, I believe Pelosi will win. Not sure Ford has the enthusiastic support of the entire Black Caucus, and the other libs will line up behind Pelosi. There just aren't many moderate Dems left anymore.

"NOW vs the NAACP"
It just doesn't get any better than this. Until we start dropping bombs on Iraq and Pelosi goes spastic on national television.

I agree....the bluedogs will go for Ford, given the choice of the two.

Oh great. So now Harold Ford, Jr. gets the Congressional Black Caucus.... Let's settle it with a nude mud wrestling contest between Pelosi and Maxine Waters.

If she's gay, she has my support too.

Ford is as left as Pelosi, but can't be called a San Francisco Democrat. Why not tie him to AlGore?? Oh man, this guy announced on Imus this morning. How serious is that?
I wonder how this will play against the well known Dem Negro Tolerance Level in the house. They seem to like having all the Blacks in their little black districts, pumping up the ranks, but seem adverse to giving them any kind of real leadership role.
I question how bright Ford is actually, he is an arrogant little snot, no doubt of that.
Overall, it's hard for me to pick. Pelosi would peg against the left/lib needle, making Jesse Helms conservatives look moderate.
Ford would create a lot of turmoil within the dem ranks and would probably play the race card every other day.
Oooh, it's so hard to choose. (This is their best?)

Let's settle it with a nude mud wrestling contest between Pelosi and Maxine Waters. You cruel so-and-so ;) Make it a steel cage Texas Death Match instead. Steel bars can be sterilized and used again; all that mud has to go back into the environment, and people have to eat stuff that grows out of that mud.

Rosa: ouch! Well, if we ever manage to get her out of Congress, she has a lifetime job opportunity (at least one week a year around Halloween-time).
As people know, DeLauro is married to ex-Clinton pollster Stanley Greenberg.
I tried unsuccessfully to post photos of their children. Apparently the photos would violate some standards here at FR about frightening senior citizens and children.
