Good, but not best. If these thugs had discovered that the door was locked after you went in, they would have figured that you tipped off the store and called the cops. Then they could have gotten your plate number and found out where you live, putting you, your wife and new baby in harms way, for no good reason.
You should have quietly driven off and then called the police.

"Then they could have gotten your plate number and found out where you live, putting you, your wife and new baby in harms way, for no good reason."Bullshit. You've been watching too many bad movies. You would have a better chance of being hit by lightning while being eaten by a shark than being the "victim" of such a wild-brained scenario.
He did better than good.

Thugs aren't that intelligent. Plus how are they gonna run a plate? Get a cop friend to do it?

He had already gotten out of his car and locked the door. If he saw the guns, stopped, unlocked his car, got back in, and drove off ... that would have definitely clued them. It's also pretty easy to criticise from your computer chair. He was the one with the sweaty palms and lots of quick decisions to make. He did exactly the right thing -- and pretty damned brave thing, too! (AND, btw, not "for no good reason.")

If they were to come to my house. They can expect lots of big canine incisors and large caliber lead......of course I'd rather not expose my family to such.
They did not check the door after I went in.
