Um, I'm not sure when this turned into a gun grabbers forum, but I don't like where this is going. It's pretty tough when you have to fight with conservatives for gun rights.

So a guy was carrying a gun? So what? That's part of life. People don't get to not carry guns just because you don't like the looks of them.

This situation is a gun grabbers wet dream: "Oh my gosh, he had a GUN! In his hand! It was big and scary and it had bullets! Oh, gosh, if only the Government could come and take away all those big bad scary guns, we wouldn't have to see them anymore!"

Today...my common sense outweighed my feverent RKBA motivations.

And before you flame back with the race card, I will confess that had it been a group of white guys from the set of Resevoir Dogs sitting their fondling their guns I would have felt just as alarmed.

These were not deer hunters, or range guys. They looked like bangers with guns in their laps backed into a parking spot in front of a 7-11.

Once I saw them and their guns, there was no way I was going back by their open window....that would have been utter idiocy ...FMCDH notwithstanding.

Are you familiar with the MAC-10? I am VERY familiar with it. VERY. If the bolt is back and a mag is inserted (as Wardaddy saw it was) that sucker is in the shoot right now mode. NOBODY carries an open bolt slam gun like that unless they are getting ready to fire RIGHT NOW.

MACs are no longer made because it's a joke to convert them to full auto. A MAC with the bolt back over a loaded mag ten feet from me on a convenience store parking lot would get me to do a Carl Lewis jump over the nearest wall or hedge without a nanosecond of pondering my options.

Yeah...do you and your buddies back up to 7-11's, then sit around with your guns for all to see.....MOST gun owners are responsible....would be interesting to know if the guns wardaddy saw were "legal," if you get my drift. These guys were obviously up to no good. The guns were only part of it. They exhibited several supicious behaviors, for example they were parked backwards, and were just "hanging", rather than going in the store to buy something. Now if these guys were not criminals, the cops, if they could find them, would just verify that and move on. In an ideal world anyway. In most states, including Tennesse, they would have arrested them for illegal cary of a firearm, which as you point out should not be a crime. In the absence of any unconstitutional "gun laws", these particular fellows probably would have been arrested for open warrents, if nothing else.

I'm not inclined to disagree with you...so given the circumstances, assuming most mac-10's are not carried in that manner unless preparing to fire, and given the fact that you would have been armed, what would you have done? Business as usual assuming they would also mind their own business?

Get a frickin clue. A Mac-10 that fires from an open bolt as a carry piece? Yeah. And my concealed carry piece is a double barrel coach-gun. You just don't know what you want to be, do you?

If we're going to have a civilized society, we have to give the police the benefit of the doubt. If you see something suspicious, report it and let them decide what, if anything, they can legally do about it.

If I'm a law-abiding citizen legally carrying a weapon, I don't care if every liberal in town calls the cops. I'll say "Good evening officer and here's my permit"

But anybody who's thinking with his brain instead of his ideology would know that those fellows in the 7-11 parking lot were up to no good and that a friendly visit from the men in blue would be a damn good idea.

If you're sitting in your backed-in car in front of a business establishment - and one that is frequently robbed - holding a loaded Mac while your homies branish other rigs, I'll call the cops on your stupid ass in a heartbeat. It appears you have difficulty understanding context.
