You are so right. In other key states, the Republicans won because they were motivated to turn out in droves while many Dems stayed home. In Californistan, too many Republicans let the press and the spin doctors misinform them about Simon and stayed home like the Dems.

Even here in FreeRepublic people were defeatest about Simon. It's a real shame. He came close, and with a little more energy on the part of California Republicans he would have won.

Sure, Bush should have visited the state again. And the party leaders betrayed Simon. But the voters still could have won it if they'd just gone to the polls and voted.

That is always the issue in winning elections, voting!

That is why I was so suprised when I heard about panhandle voters in Florida in 2000, who turned back when they thought Gore had won.

What about the other office's?
