AMERICANS broadly agree on two facts about the Saddam Hussein regime in Iraq: its brutality and the danger it poses to themselves, especially the danger of nuclear attack. Disagreement arises primarily over what to do: Take out the regime now? Give Baghdad another chance? Follow the United Nations' lead?

If I had a college age son or daughter, who was exposed to this radically biased stuff, I'd jerk the student out, and write letters to the regents, the President, the local papers, and the student paper.

If I was a student, I would openly challenge the goofy professor. If I was penalized on grades, I'd take the college to court.

The liberal state of America's colleges and universities
is the major reason I would never contribute to ANYBODY's
scholarship fund or college fund.

There are always these charities set up for orphans or
children in unfortunate situations, raising money so they
can go to college one day.

Well, I say just give the kid some money right now, and let
him go out and buy a bicycle or something. He'll get more
out of that bike than he will from some Dan Rather clone,
handing out condoms and pot at the head of the classroom
and urging Americans to try to just "get along" with the
Osamas and Muhammads of the world.

Here is a great author - historian

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/707331/posts

The university "free speech" movement of the 60s morphed into anti-Vietnam and resulted in McGovern.

McGovern got 38% of the vote, and the buzz word of the day was "silent majority." McGovern was a light weight, compared to the socialists in congress, the media, and at the colleges of today.

I find it hard to believe that students today, are easily swayed by these leftist anti-American professors.

I was taken in by McGovern, as a 24 year old. Just a few years later, my world view was completely changed.

I can state with certainty that during my college years, spanning 1973 to 1974, the professors didn't veer into politics, at my state university (Calif. State Univ. Fullerton) best known for baseball, and for business graduates.

Common sense would seem persuasive to these over educated fools, after 1989 fall of the Berlin Wall, the USSR breakup, and then 9/11/2001 that America is worth defending, not condemning.

But the left doesn't have the market alone, for absurd anti-American ranting. Sorry if this bothers folks, but Buchanan and Browne post 9/11/2001 have lost any respect that I previously held, for them.

>>"Why do American academics so often despise their own country while finding excuses for repressive and dangerous regimes?"

Deep down - they're afraid.

"Why do professors of linguistics, chemistry, American history, genetics and business present themselves in public as authorities on the Middle East? "

Because they are a gaggle of pampered, indulged and self-important a$$holes!

Eloquent. I also like Michael Savage's description: "red diaper doper babies."

"Why do professors of linguistics, chemistry, American history, genetics and business present themselves in public as authorities on the Middle East? "

Why do Hollywood fools such the Baldwins, Striesand, Harrelson, Sarandon present themselves in public as authorities on the Middle East?

Why aren't they being laughed out of the US for making such fools of themselves? The only thing I can figure is that enough of the public is dumber than they are so they get an audience.

In the case of the academics, ALL of the public is dumber than they are because they let the politicians take tax money and fund the schools that these $#!+ for brains work for.

The only purpose of war would be to provide cover for Israel to commit what he calls "even higher atrocities" against Palestinians by removing them from the West Bank and Gaza.

We should be so lucky. Keep it up Muzzies and this wish for enhanced victimhood will come true

Tom Nagy, associate professor of business at George Washington University........

Fact is the MidEast studies profs are no better, are slick explainers and apologists for Jihadist Islam and moderate Islam. Example being John Esposito of G'Town.

We need another Joe McCarthy.

Old Joe was the greatest disaster ever to the cause of conservatism. Most of what he said is now generally recognized as accurate.

The way he said it discredited forceful anti-communism for several decades.

Remember all the stuff over the years about how Edward R. Murrow was some kind of champion, how he "saved" America from McCarthy? Remember the big climatic scene (noted in several books and in that TV movie with Travanti) where right before they went on-air with that "historic" show Murrow asked all of his staff one last time if anyone had any connections? The line about "the fear is right here in this room"?

I wonder what Murrow would think of Political Correctness, of Rolf Szabo, who was fired from Kodak, for not toeing the HomoFascist Party line. Of the students in our colleges who have to adopt the Communist Mantra or be denied a grade by a Collaborating professor the likes of Kirstein or Herold or Chomsky, etc? Of the rise from the ashes of Jewish scapegoating?

Would Murrow recognize the fear?

McCarthy wasn't perfect, but he damn sure was on to something.

I can't argue about some of that. I was born in '56, So I wasn't aware of the emotional tone. But I'm aware of it now, and decorum be damned. I repeat myself, but some things are simple to see and remedies should be straightforward-there are Perverts infiltrating our schools. There are wacko Fascist groups wanting to take our rights of association away. Official organs of "journalism" openly promote Communistic ideals in their "guidelines". Tax monies fund Infanticide and Homosexual Advocacy. I say let's get this show on the road, accept we're imperfect people in an imperfect world, and forget hanging the tinsel. Let the Democraps worry about a Legacy.

Liberals seem to be preoccupied with butts.

You know, Katt, the sad part is that those of us in the academy who are conservative are compelled to appear BALANCED, while our socialist colleagues across campus can spout any kind of crap they want. I have a colleague in the business school who tried to present both sides to his tax class and received a shock when one student said she thought that he must be liberal! He decided then and there to tell him where he was coming from, while encouraging them to make up their own minds, of course.

I have started teaching public choice theory and thinly-disguised Austrian economics along with my normal free-market microeconomics. The students really respond well, showing that they can think after all, when cordially challenged. I have about decided that from now until I retire (which could be another twenty-five years), I will become more and more partisan (on the right) each year, just to balance the lunatics in the liberal arts and humanities departments.

Of course, I teach in a backwater institution, not in a stellar universe of enlightenment such as Yale. (Thank God!)
