A Love Letter To A Veteran
Political leaders in San Francisco are certainly not interested in a parade that honors the memory of those soldiers. Here's how San Francisco funds some of its many parades. The list of allocations that follows (with events listed in order of the allocated dollar amount) comes from the Web site for the Grants for the Arts, a city commission funded by the hotel tourist tax. You can see all the details here. (Please note that the foreign and/or multicultural festivities are well funded; compare that with the American holidays.)
Carnaval (a Brazilian holiday): $113,000
The San Francisco Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Parade: $84,000
Chinese New Year Parade: $84,000
Cinco De Mayo (Mexican): $68,000
Columbus Day Celebration (Italian): $47,300
San Francisco Chinatown Autumn Moon Festival (Chinese): $30,300
St. Patrick's Day (Irish): $29,500
Filipino American Arts Exposition: $22,000
Juneteenth Festival (a new African American holiday): $22,000
Samoan Flag Day: $15,000
Veterans Day: $13,500
But veterans shouldn't feel left out. There is another parade that gets even less money than the Veterans Day commemoration -- the ceremony and parade to honor the memory of our fallen heroes: The Memorial Day Ceremony and Parade gets a whopping $5,500.
It would be funny if it weren't such a bad joke. Speaking of jokes, in San Francisco, the city even gives more money to comics than to mourners who wish to memorialize the fallen martyrs: Comedy Day gets $7,000. The bad joke is not just on the vets; it's on all of us.

San Fagcisco is a cesspool.
I don't know... other than the fact that they are all from the same (as FReeper jigsaw puts it) from the same "cesspool".
The Washington Times said:
"Much is discussed about the congresswoman, but without a single mention of her executive position in the Progressive Caucus, and the latter's ties to the Socialist International......The Socialist International carries the torch for Karl Marx, Friedrich Engels, V.I. Lenin, Leon Trotsky, and Josef Stalin.........DSA/USA, the "Democratic Socialists of America" are the U.S. arm of the Socialist International. They share the symbol of the fist holding the rose, and they share the tasks to be accomplished, an altogether different America.read whole article hereSome time ago 58 members of the U.S. House of Representatives formed a subdivision of the Democratic Socialists of America and called it the Progressive Caucus. Their statement of purpose, as well as their membership list, formed an integral part of the dsausa Web site (www.dsausa.org). The membership list appeared on the screen with the continuous background of the fist holding the rose, should anyone have missed the connection with the Socialist International.
Following the exposure in this newspaper of the Progressive Caucus (Nov. 10-11, 1998), action was taken to hide the true nature of the organization, and its membership list was eventually taken off the dsausa Web site. In fact, the only listing to be found right now is a web site maintained by Rep. Bernie Sanders, Vermont Independent, the only member professing to be a socialist. But interested parties can type "Progressive Caucus" in a search engine, such as Google, and find the dsausa link right up front. The link brings up a screen saying "the page cannot be displayed," but the listing confirms its prior existence.
Rep. Nancy Pelosi has long been, and is now, a member of the executive committee of the Progressive Caucus. Her election as minority leader would firmly establish the link between the Democratic Caucus of the U.S. House of Representatives and the Socialist International."
Never-the-less, I agree, it is of major importance and we need to take every opportunity to reiterate.
