Lefty Pelosi's star is not going to shine for very long, so if the media intends to turn her into a Fascinating Figure, they had better get cracking. Once the shooting starts in Iraq, nothing Pelosi does will make it forward of Page A-20. And by the time it stops, the 2004 crop of presidential wannabes will be popping up in Iowa and New Hampshire. Her turn in the barrel as a "Democratic Party Leader" who is in our face all the time is going to be mercifully brief. |

"Many analysts expect Pelosi to continue to be an asset to her party when it comes to fundraising, even if Democrats continue to lag behind Republicans (President Bush, especially) in that arena."
I'm not clear on the concept. If you collect lots of money, and then squander it on losing campaigns, how is that a good thing? This was the devastating thing about the last election for our Demo friends. They spent big bucks in Fla. to defeat JB just to see him win by 14 pts. Other closer races might have benefited from those extra bucks. Also, when big money donors see their funds used on losing campaigns, don't they wise up and close the money faucet? This is why I believe McCauliff is toasted.
