Between H-1B visas, sending work out of the country, moving complete American business's out of the country and illegals taking American's jobs, many people have lost their jobs, having a hard time finding a new job and many more are going to be in the same boat.
The more people they can put out of work in America and make their existance dependant on the largesse of the state, the faster America will approach a state where the people will have to give up soverenity and join the world government just to survive.
People do not learn from history.
Every time someone starts doing something that was tried and failed, they think they are smarter than the one's
that failed and won't "make the same mistakes".
A lot of the people and pols are just in it for the money and power and prestige and don't care.
They think also that they are so smart, they will be included in the rulership when the dust settles.
And then there's the people who, as long as no one takes away their Lexus, their Sony, their drugs, their booze, their dildo, they will give up any semblance of freedom.
No one in government is going to stop what's happening.
No President is going to reverse what has been done over the last couple centuries.
Anyone who thinks they will is living in a dream world.
Anyone who can think three moves ahead should be able to see.

That I think is the TRUE motivation for this fiasco. Certainly greed motivates corporate America, but what of our "representatives"? Whom do they TRULY serve?

No one in government is going to stop what's happening. No President is going to reverse what has been done over the last couple centuries. Anyone who thinks they will is living in a dream world. Anyone who can think three moves ahead should be able to see. Hear, hear. Finally a word of wisdom from this tiresome thread. One of the characteristic traits of conservatives is viewing the world as a realist, not a fantast. So why all the griping about WHAT IS, as opposed to what should be?
Here's a summary for the realists:
- If there wasn't an H1B program, programming would be sent offshore.
- Don't get into a trade which can be substituted by low cost immigrant labor; besides programming, this means manual trades like construction, etc.
- The constant point throughout these threads is the lack of communication skills; a word to the wise: if you're native born and can post at FR, you have better than average communication skills - find a job that values these attributes.
- And finally, for those that never figured out economics, in a global economy, there's a huge demand for high-level service sector jobs in law, accounting and finance; ain't no way the developing countries can get to the next level without the type of information infrastructure we have in the West that enables the types of daily financial/contractual transactions we take for granted.
