So it is important for Christians to make clear that it is the teachings of Islam we oppose, and FOR THE SAKE OF the people enslaved by such teachings (literally and figuratively). Mediabigots may underplay or ignore all mention of Islam-inspired violence, slave-raiding and tyranny, but Christians can respond by continually pointing back to the facts of history (and daily events) and the teachings that inspire them. It is not Christians who fly planes into buildings, bomb innocent targets, take slaves in the name of religion and assert totalitarian rule as the "will of God."

Not true. Some Christians have, and do commit atrocities in the name of Christianity.

Many people fled Europe because of religous oppression and persecution by so-called Christians who claimed to have the authority of God.
Bombing abortion clinics, killing Doctors, attacking and killing minorities and gays...the KKK claim that their racist hate is Bible-based. Then there were the Crusades.

My point is that it's a fallacy to oppose Islam simply by blaming it for terrorism etc.
Because people can and do make the same argument against Biblical Christianity.

I would agree though that Christ is the only way to God ( as He claimed) and the Islam is a way to Hell.

OK - now the killing of abortion doctors is wrong even if it is only one, but compared to the murders done by the followers of Islam in that same time frame - I don't believe I would mention that.

Now the KKK?? (come on) and the Crusades - how many centuries ago was that? Is that be worst indictment of Christianity? That's a pretty good record, wouldn't you say - as compared to the 'other' religion.

This was wrong of President Bush - and he is saying to Christians what he has said to all Americans - 'Shut Up and TAke It".

The mid term election is over - he has no further need for the Christian right - of there is an election in '04 - but many things can happen in two years - just look at what has happened in the last two years.

But it's not Christianity. It's something they call "Christian Identity". Christian Identity is an evil hate filled religion, as is Islam.

When Buford Furrow shot up those Jewish kids at the JCC, I didn't hear our Prez saying "Christian Identity is a religion of peace".

All the examples you mentioned are threats of the past. The crusades were to rid the Holy Land of Muslims. I'm not justifying them, but they are not the same as the present attack on our nation. The crusades where not largely carried out by fundamentalist Christians. Christianity, the religion of Jesus that is, is not a religion of the sword, is not a violent religion. I understand your point that many violent acts have been accomplished in the name of Christianity and under false teachings of the Bible. But the basic teachings of Christianity, that is, the basic teachings of Jesus Christ are in sharp contrast to the basic teachings of Mohammad and where rejected by Mohammad.

Jesus Christ never pulled a sword against any. His angry side was reserved for those who pretended to be of the same faith as He, but were actually misleading people out of His way. Only once did the Bible record him lifting a hand, and that was against the money changers in the Temple, the House of the Lord, which is same as someone defending his/her own home. In contrast to Mohammad, Jesus did not violently resist other religions, and He never broke a law in His life. In fact, Jesus laid down His life. He could have called the hosts of Heaven to save Him, but he chose not to.

The basic teachings of fundamentalist Islam are those of hatred, cruelty, and murder. Read the Koran and the Hadith, the two holy books of Islam to see what the Holy Prophet Muhammad said to do to those who do not convert.
