Public Broadcasting Service, the taxpayer-funded television station, is once again drawing fire from its critics after one of its news show hosts said the Republican Party victory signaled oncoming religious tyranny.
"If you liked the Supreme Court that put George W. Bush in the White House, you will swoon over what's coming. And if you like God in government, get ready for the Rapture," said Bill Moyers, host of the station's weekly news program "Now With Bill Moyers," in his latest commentary.

If we really want to bury the Rats , all we have to do is make sure that America hears exactly what they say.

Tax-supported PBS has become completely unnecessary. Nickelodeon would pay real money for the Muppets and Mr. Rogers -- and give them a much better platform. BBC is already on most cable systems. History and Discovery Channels do their programming far better than PBS does it themselves.
Moyers, Rose, Lehrer, et al should live or die by the actual market for their services.
The only question is how long the taxpayers feel like propping up a dinosaur.

I can't believe anybody still pays attention to that pathetic old drunk, Bill moyers.

He's the Rush Limbaugh of PBS without the audience share. Bwahahaha!!!

By the way, I'm a little surprised that this Ellen Sorokin writes for the Washington Times.
"Then, in 1999, Republicans renewed their attacks on PBS after reports that some stations were sharing donor lists with Democratic political organizations. It was learned later that Republicans were also getting the lists."
That's a lie. There was no comparison between the aid PBS gave to the scumbags versus the morsels taken by the GOP.
And I thought she ended the piece in a "no big deal" tone

The liberals and lefties do not consider trashing conservatives as anything but stating the obvious (to them). They are the "brains" of the country, speaking what we haven't enough intelligence to otherwise understand. They speak out in order to educate us. It's only natural that we should pay them for this service. We need to pickle these precious brains, study them for clues to the source of such wisdom.

PBS is one of those important cultural institutions that are largely ignored by the Republicans given over to the Democrat Leftists to use as they see fit. George Bush could clean house at PBS this morning during breakfast, but it seems not to be a priority.

"It's meant to be a dialogue, and viewers will find a diversity of opinion there," said George Abar, senior director for corporate communications for PBS. Diversity to PBS is a Democrat debating a Green.

History and Discovery Channels do their programming far better than PBS does it themselves. What you said. Thirty years ago, there might have been some justification for the existence and public funding of PBS, but no longer, I think. I have a DTV satellite dish, and just off the top of my head, I receive many channels that provide what PBS provides - Nickelodeon, A&E, Bravo, History Channel, Discovery Channel, TLC, National Geographic Channel, Animal Planet, the Travel Channel, Discovery Health, BBC-America, Trio, HGTV (Home & Garden), et cetera. Plus a whole slew of specialized Discovery channels (Discovery Wings, etc.) that I don't bother subscribing to at the moment.
Kill public funding of PBS. If PBS offers a valuable service, it will survive by people choosing to support it voluntarily and directly. And if people don't want it badly enough to support it themselves, it deserves to die, it needs to die.

Exactly. Just look at their political discussions on Fridays: Pick any two:
1. a left wing Johnson loving plagerizer,
2. an old school self righteous democRAT columnist from Boston where they just know they are right about everything who is to the left of Stalin,
3. a prissy bow tie wearing efete little pansy who is so sickening that normal people switch the channel the minute his face is shown. don't really know his politics cuz i switch channels rather than endure his carping and piruoettes
4. a feminist radical throwaway to the 60's who is so ignorant she never let logic confuse her and is only on the show for "diversity"
and these are only the panelests. The regular teleprompter readers at PBS have the same political views. Where's the diversity I ask you? Its like Comrade Dan Blather (what's the frequency Dan?) interviewing fellow socialist Peter Jennings (go back to your failed economic ruin county of Canada already since you don't like us) about why the republicans are so mean spirited.
Lets pull the plug on em folks! They will never reform and be impartial. Best to just defund them.

Prolitariat Broadcasting Service Bump.

Hypocrite Moyers is very content with our current theocracy based on his religion, Secular Humanism.

At least on the BBC you do get a conservative opinion every now and then. Kill PBS funding, along with Pravada Radio(NPR), and return the dinosaur Moyers back to the Smithsonian Exhibit on Natural History please.

In 1994, Republicans who won control of Congress made abolition of public broadcasting a major goal, contending that it was a platform for a liberal agenda. That never panned out. SHEESH, It's now 8 long years later. Can the GOP finally defund PBS? With all the channels now available it's time to get legislation to catch up with technology and defund PBS, for starters.

Please, if you really believe that the government should NOT be funding this kind of propaganda, WRITE YOUR CONGRESSMAN!
I used to give annually to KERA in Texas until the "news" coverage became so slanted, so gay and abortion friendly that I could not stomach it. The 2000 election merely proved my point.
