Two of these requests came from long-term care facilities that had previously built what they termed "smoking huts" for their patients and personnel. Seperate buildings - just for smokers - the waivers were denied - and one of these is a state owned facility.

Who denied them, Gabz? Who's behind this chit? City Councils, the Mayor, who is behind this stuff?

I know I wrote to every swinging member of the Council down there. I can't believe ALL of them believe in this. I know smokers are in the minority, but these anti-groups are even smaller then we are. I guess having more money helps THEIR side out.

The State Department of health and Social services denied all 10 applications. Including at least one restaurant that had seperately entranced and ventilated smoking and non-smoking dining areas.

The control freak nico-nazis are in for a rude awakening come January.

As much as I want to sell my house and get out of here - I hope I'm still around for the fireworks!!! If not - I'll come back, I'm only going to be 2 hours away.

And believe you me - I will here one way or another 2 years from now working to defeat the Governor in her re-election bid. (you wouldn't by any chance be able to post that particular bumper sticker, would you?)

Those who let the kids be 'in charge' aren't doing their kids any favors.

Matthew 7:9-10 -- "Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or, if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent?"

You poor, poor sensitive flower! If smoke on the sidewalk makes you ill, all those nasty buses and trucks with their deisel engines must drive you straight to bed with the vapors, dearie.

I don't believe in abusive taxes on cigarettes, and while I don't care if people choose to kill themselves and indeed have the right to do so, it's not fair for me to be physically sickened by having second-hand smoke inflicted on me.

The word "fair" is nowhere in the Constitution and for good reason. Get over it.

I also resent the smell of it on clothes, furniture, etc., and is one reason I would never go to "happy hours" with friends after work when I was younger.

Two things:
1.) Do you actually own any of the items whose smell you resent or does your prissy resentment extend to the property of others? (No real need to reply to that, as we're all aware of the answer)
2.)I'm willing to bet that none of your co-workers really wanted a bright light like you along on their after-work jaunts. In fact you're probably one of the main reasons they drank.

You are spineless, weak and a drain on the gene pool. Do not reproduce.

Your #44 is a thorough explanation of your position. Anyone with a brain can read it and see your position is rooted in a sense of liberty for all concerned.

I, too, as a non-smoker, am very sensitive to second-hand smoke, to the point where it makes me dizzy and physically nauseated

Once, while walking with my wife, became unsettled by the mustache of an approaching man. As he passed us, I glanced at the mustache and became nauseated when I discovered what had had me unsettled. It wasn't a mustache at all. It was long, untrimmed nostril hairs protruding several inches from his nose. Now what? Was his grooming responsible for my nausea? What's to be done? Are laws needed to save me from feeling ill.

Point of fact: your exaggerations, over-reactions, prissy tantrums, and out and out lies aimed at denying liberty are making me sick.

We used to have smoking lounges at work. That wasn't good enough. Now they don't even want us CLOSE to work!

Walking through a group of smokers at the doorway is a gross way to start the day.

We aren't even ALLOWED on the bus!

You ARE ALLOWED on the bus. Just not allowed to light up.

Not to everyone. You have every right to refrain yourself.

I wish more smokers would realize that many of us non-smokers literally become physically sick around their smoke -- it is NOT an issue of us being judgmental, prissy, or dictatorial. I am a defender of personal freedoms to the nth degree, but that doesn't mean I should have to put up with upset stomachs, dizziness, headaches, etc. from nearby smokers. It is an issue of courtesy.

BUMP (but they will not)

They are not exaggerations. Until you realize the problem, society will continue to relegate you to less and less "freedom" to smoke. Get with it and stop blaming the messenger but listen to the message.

If prissy little do-gooders like yourself didn't kick smokers out on the street you wouldn't be so inconvenienced.

Oh, but I forgot - you know what is best for EVERYONE.

Thanks but no thanks, I have a mother, I don't need you or the government to be another one.

I know enough that it is not good for me to be exposed to smoke. Most know this that is why your numbers are shrinking and you are being relegated to less and less "smoking" space.

Smoking, like everything, is fine in moderation. I smoke cigars, outside in deference to my children, and do most of my heavy thinking while sipping chivas and smoking a contraband cuban bolivar belicoso...

Smoking: a way to ruin the taste of a good dring (or a good meal).

Stick a sock in it.

It's sickly whiney "the government has to do for me" little people like you that have caused the problem.

We're not going away and the pendulum will swing and the backlash against you nannies is not going to be a pretty sight.

Not happy with the conditions offered? Seek conditions to your liking elsewhere, or start your own enterprise and set your conditions.

Not happy with conditions offered? Smokers can go work elsewhere.

Your nasty, immature, unprovoked, condescending and insulting rant against me reveals volumes about you, all embarrassing. What's your problem? I said smokers DO have the right to smoke on the sidewalks -- how is that I am to control or not control my physical responses to the smoke? As well, I did NOT resort to insulting smokers and did NOT say they do not have certain rights -- yet you insult me and call me names because of YOUR own PREJUDICES against NON-SMOKERS.

As far as the Manhattan bar scene goes, you bet it wasn't my scene. Besides the smoking, the rampant promiscuity, mind games of pursuit and capture between the sexes, seeing losers vomiting all over the place, and watching guys pee outside the buildings after closing time didn't capture my thrall. I had a lot better things to do with my private time than waste it on that mindless stupidity.

It is obvious you have severe emotional and mental problems, and need to learn to control your hostility. I suggest you visit a therapist to work them out, or better yet, turn to God and pray to Him for guidance and a change of heart. And -- please -- don't YOU reproduce -- if your spawn turn out to be anything like you, I don't want them breathing the same polluted air I am forced to -- and I certainly do not want them around MY children. There is too much violence today in the schools at it is. Have a nice day, friend.
