People who fail to register by Dec. 16 face deportation, a change that shocked Hani Al-Ikhwan, a 20-year-old Syrian student at Georgia Perimeter College in Clarkston.

What the heck is some mangy, Muslim Syrian doing going to a college I've never heard of? Obviously he plans to gain a foothold and somehow manage to stay here after graduation. We need more Muslims like we need a hole in the head.

"Al-Ikhwan, the Syrian student, wondered why he has to register while his Bolivian roommate does not." Reminds me of the old addage, "send them to school, buy them books, what do they do? Eat the damn covers off the books!!" HEY Al-Ikhwan, there's a bus leaving in 10 minutes.....be under it!!

You know, cause a revolution, overthrow your dictators, establish a representative Republic, like ours.

Sounds like our "republic" is turning into a dictatorship. If he just stays here and registers he can feel right at home.

Man, you mean you have to come all the way to the U.S. to get an education as good as that at Georgia Perimeter College? For those not in the area, this is a run-of-the-mill suburban 2-year community college that has grown with Atlanta and now probably grants some 4-year degrees.

We have plenty of foreigners going to our community colleges. Their strategy is to somehow parley going to college into a green card and residency in the USofA. Pretty pathetic and obvious, eh!

I have words for this foreign student, a guest here in this country.

"To Mr. Hani: You come from a county officially determined as a state sponsor of terrorism. You will shut up. You will cooperate or you will be ejected from this country. You are not a citizen, you are a guest. You have no right or authority to challenge American law. You only have the obligation to cooperate with the authorities. You will shut up and you will do as you are told. That is all."

I don't see you moving anywhere soon, you pathetic excuse for a libertarian. Why not move to NZ or the Sudan permanently so we don't have to endure your illogic?

You're a guest, not a citizen. It's wartime.

Well said, and all that needs to be said.

He asked how U.S. tourists and businesspeople would react if a foreign government wanted to fingerprint, photograph and interview them.

Saudi Arabia already does this to all US citizens. The question is why is Saudi excluded from the list, after all the Wahabi are financed from there and the leaders of Al Quaida all appaear to come from there or Egypt. I have no time for this whining by non citizens. The Bill of Rights should only apply to citizens. Even long term green card holders should not enjoy the benefits of full citizenship.

You are right, and often they come to go to school and then just dissappear into the country under the cover of fake documents. This is why they are so opposed to the fingerprinting and extra scrutiny.
On a side note, I remember years ago when ads were run around the first of every new year reminding ALL aliens that they were to perform their annual registration. But this was during a time when being here illegally was not tolerated - [before the Dems determined they needed to add to their intercity voter pool to better and more completely steal elections].

I can't believe the cheek of this guy. He is NOT a citizen.
I don't think he should be here at all and would support a moratorium on all student entries from the above mentioned countries until we have the war with the Islamic radicals well under control.

The stategy is 1. go to college with low entrance and academic requirements. 2. meet hot american girls, who will be enthralled by your exotic accent and handsome dark looks. 3. marry one for green card. 4. after that, plenty options!

I've seen this done over and over.

Actually, I'm just a little put out that we've done this, rather than tell all Moslem non-citizens to leave or be deported by September 30th, 2001.

Of course, that would have entailed that we acknowledge that Islam is at war with us, and therefore, that we are at war with Islam. While I understand that tactical discretion in wartime tends to preclude such plainspokenness, I still see excessive "Islam = Peace" nonsense coming from the Bush Administration.

The President's position is exposed as farcical when "guests" from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan (not to mention "palestine" and Afghanistan) are not subject to even the minimal scrutiny we are giving to suspects from Iran, Iraq, Libya, the Sudan, and Syria.

If we can't say "Islam = submission to sharia or death by the sword," we should say nothing at all.

To me, this inability to sidestep political correctness is going to cost perhaps, thousands of American lives.

Who gets the blame, then?

Hey tekkie, easy on the 2 year schools. I went to Carrol Tech aka West Georgia Technical Institute.

Hey, nothing wrong with them - it just seems ridiculous that we let guys from 1/2 a world away come here to attend them, as if they offer something you can't get somewhere else closer to home. It's especially ridiculous when people from that part of the world, with that ideological background, are out killing us at random.
