From a Google Search on that Eagle pin
And a connection to Putin: --
Albright's Brooches Send Policy Signals
By Rebecca Cooper
W A S H I N G T O N, June 7 As a former KGB agent, newly inaugurated Russian President Vladmir Putin has learned to carefully study the background and behavior patterns of foreign officials to better understand their ulterior motives and the unspoken signals they may be sending.
When it comes to understanding the signals being sent by Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, Putin told reporters in Moscow he has learned to pay attention to one specific Albright detail: her jewelry.
The first female secretary of state has frequently used brooches to symbolize her world views. Foreign officials and reporters alike have learned to take note of Albrights choice of jewelry to better interpret signals she would like to send but may not be able to voice as a diplomat.
-- snip --
A naturalized U.S. citizen, Albright has among her favorite pins a bejeweled U.S. flag and a gold eagle perched on a pearl a pin that became a popular accessory with a number of Washington women, including Hillary Rodham Clinton and Health and Human Services Secretary Donna Shalala.
--snip--
Once she began wearing pins at the United Nations, however, Albright says she quickly realized that her jewelry could be used to send signals some subtle, others more direct. for the populist message they needed to project.
--snip--
Foreign leaders who ignore Albrights accessories do so at their own peril.
Just ask Putin. President Clinton jokingly told Putin that the Three Monkeys brooch worn by Albright for her meeting with the new Russian president symbolized her see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil approach to foreign policy.
According to the New York Times, however, Albright says she deliberately wore the monkey pin to express her displeasure with Putin for his handling of the war in Chechnya.
Putin may have missed the point of the pin. But its a good bet that, as Albright continues to deal with U.S.-Russia relations, hell have plenty of other chances to look for hidden messages in her brooches.

Pelosi with Russert:
1. if she says one more time "we stand shoulder to shoulder with the President in the war against terrorism", I'm gonna scream!!
2. Oh no! It's not enough that she's a "root-causer" when it comes to all the social ills in the USA, now she says she wants to go after the root causes of terrorism. She said something along the lines "We need to understand the root causes of terrorism. They are being taught terrorism in the madrases. We need to understand why and give them alternatives."

Form the article:
The first lady recently fastened a gold-tone eagle pin to her lapel, strode confidently before the cameras of NBC's "Today Show" and defended the ethics, morals, honor, integrity, courage, perseverance and upright qualities of her husband.
A week or so later, President Clinton's personal secretary, Betty Currie, clamped on one of the pins the day she testified to grand jury investigators.
Sad they had to choose such a beautiful symbol for such trash.

He accused the GOP chariman of dirty tricks against a "hero" Sen Cleland (GA-D). I was glad to see Paul Gigot jump down Juan Williams' throat when he, Juan, tried the same thing on FNC this morning. I don't ever remember Gigot being so animated.

FOX NEWS SUNDAY: What were Tony Snow's Parting Thoughts in regards to President Bush? Good/bad? Not sure I understood them.
To: Miss Marple
Pelosi is a product of the finest cosmetic surgery and botox injections that money can buy. My face wasn't that tight when I was 25! Did you notice her at her "press opportunity" after her election? Gephardt tried to kiss her on her cheek and she turned the back of her head to him. Either she didn't want to mess up the grease or she didn't want Gephardt sliding off to the floor - live on TV.

Pelosi is really naive if she thinks terrorists will end their jihad if we only understand them and talk to them.
Her stance belies her supposed support of the President on the potential war because it translates basically to an anti-war position. Can anyone say DOUBLE SPEAK?

Overall impression of Pelosi:
If I were a Dem watching this objectively, I'd say she is not a total disaster, but still a not-ready-for-primetime player.
She looks nervous. She sticks to clearly rehearsed and practiced lines and talking points. Little or no spontaneity, passion, confidence or sense of humor.
Her politics aside, she simply is not an impressive representative for her party.

Sounds like the "why do they hate us" approach.
To: RippleFire
Meet the Press is just awful. Tim Russert interupts way too much.
FNS just starting here, with a very unremarkable interview with Homeland Meister Ridge.
Boring........
To: Timeout
I agree - Ridge is bor-r-r-r-ing. When I saw he would be the Fox guest, I didn't bother to watch. Odds of him saying something interesting = 0.
To: Timeout
Tom Ridge is not the most exciting guy on the planet, but I am much more concerned with his organizational skills and his ability to get things done. If President Bush trusts him, then so do I. The President knows how important this position is and he's not going to give it to someone that can't do the job. Let's give him a chance.
