Moran's Homepage

This landmark location, built in 1897, was formally an inn and later became St. George's Chapel during the Depression in 1929. St. George's Chapel catered to the local merchants and residents, which were mostly of Syrian Catholic descent. This area came to be known as "Little Syria." In 1979 the church retired, and the Moran family acquired and converted the site and began operating on December 26, 1986.
You can find the current ping list on my home page and I will update it with all who show interest.
Please freepmail me with any ideas or suggestions so this can be a wonderful gathering. I have been emailing back and forth with Firebrand planning the party and we are going to have a very nice turnout.

Chances are that, somewhere along the way, someone in the Irish family married an Italian. Given that both ethnic groups were significantly discriminated against in the early 20th century ("No Irish/Italians need apply.") and both had a strong Catholic faith, there were many marriages among the Irish and Italian immigrants.

Just replied via FReepmail. I remember drinking to our military at Moran's on 10/7/01 as the bombs dropped on the Taliban and we basked in the glow of FReeping the peace-niks in Union Square.
A great day and here's hoping 12/28/02 is another.

You are Italirish? How so? The only Irish I can claim is that I had two babies with some Irish in them from their fathers side. Since they were inside me, well I now consider myself part Irish :), my husband on the other hand still has zero Italian.
Hope you can make it!

I'm from New York, and have never actually had a chance to meet with other freepers in any kind of activity, this could be fun.

Yup, lots to catch up on, but I won't make you wait until Dec. 28 for that.;) I'm just so glad there's going to be a party...wheeee...

Then you really should come to the party. It will be fun, I haven't been to a dull freeper gathering yet!
To: Sonny M
You won't believe how much fun it will be; imagine being in a room with ONLY people who think like you do (well, most of them anyway.....LOL)!!!

To: hellinahandcart; ncweaver
On Election Night, I went down to the bar where the NC Freepers were meeting about 7:30, "just for a while," because I wanted to get back home to my computer and you guys.
I got home about midnight! And I didn't miss my computer as much as I thought I would! Shameless!

Oh goodness, it had to be more fun watching the returns with freepers "in the flesh". Bet it was a blast.
I don't think we've had a party here since last February, so we're DUE. LOL

Just tell me where to send teh bail money!

Oh, I will hold the bail money. ;)
If we get 70 of us in one room, you never know. There COULD be trouble. Haha.
To: Howlin
And I didn't miss my computer as much as I thought I would!I think we both were in disbelief that we weren't going through severe withdrawals without our computers. Guess being with a FEW Freepers in person equals to being with hundreds on the computer. As soon as I got home, though, I headed straight for the keyboard!!
The best of both worlds would be to have a laptop at the bar with us!

The best of both worlds would be to have a laptop at the bar with us! That's been done already, as well as FReepers hosting threads live from FReeper events (i.e. a FReeper with a laptop at the House Managers' Dinner in DC posting details as they were happening).
