Thanks. One of the martyred, Ari Weiss, was from Dallas. I didn't know him, but some very close friends of mine have been close to his family for almost 40 years. His father, Rabbi Weiss, was a pulpit Rabbi in Dallas before he migrated to Israel. His mother, Susie, was born in a "camp" in Europe after World War II.

Ari attended school here in Dallas and maintained friendships here even after moving to Israel. Ari was killed by a sniper bullet as he went back to to help a friend who had been shot.

Sorry, I typed too quickly and wrongly implied that Ari Weiss was killed the other day. He was killed when he was ambushed in Jenin and went back to help one of his fellow soldiers who had been shot. The Aryeh Weiss mentioned in this article is actually his father.
