Why not just de-fund the commission? Does anybody think the commissioners would do this for free, from their own pockets?

That would take congressional action and brings attention to her. Don't get involved when the enemy is in the process of destroying itself. President Bush can do more by bringing some quiet sanity to the commission by putting a couple of his appointees there over the next six years. IMO
