UNNOTICED in the Republican victory in the Congressional elections is the rapid fall in the fortunes of former Vice President Al Gore.
According to the Fox News/Opinion Dynamics Poll, Gore has dropped from a 51 percent favorable rating on Aug. 6-7, 2002, to a mere 37 percent on Oct. 22-23. This 15 point fall comes after the Democratic nominee of 2002 had succeeded at keeping his popularity in the low 50s throughout the first eight months of 2002.

Al Gore is that old car in the back yard resting on foundation blocks.

Dick can't predict a Republican landslide two days before the election. How can he predict a Gore loss TWO YEARS in advance?

Al will be the designated fall guy in '04.

Hillary thought so much of her husband's comments that she voted for the war resolution.HRC showed political savvy on that one! She's a closet marxist/totalitarian but she ain't stupid.
Gore and Kerry have already dissed Bush on his handling of the war on terror.
Edwards was smart and kept his motor-mouth shut.
I'm sure Pelosi will attack Bush ASAP. She will be the point-person.
HRC will try to look moderate... watching how the polls shape up for the others in 2004.

I agree 100%. The dems will use Al like a $10 hooker to take the fall in 2004. They are finished with him and that will be his big goodbye.
I'm really suprised he's still alive after the comment about Hillary as VP - I can just imagine her response to that! hehehehe

Jeffords/McKinney... in your heart, you know they're crazy.

Hillary thought so much of her husband's comments that she voted for the war resolution.Dems are going to flip-flop on the issues enough to
a)Fool moderates and stupid conservatives.
b)Convince their base that are still liberal.
The big problem for them is if they don't manage to fool voters (a notoriously easy thing to do with the collusion of the media) they'll lose on both sides.
That's why I love Pelosi as the head. Her base is so solid, she doesn't have to compromise like other members of the House. And her base is hard to fool.... they are idiots in their opinions, but they are firmly wedded to them.

And the whole thing about the VP is needlessly insulting to Lieberman... he has pledged his support and Gore stabs him in the back.

Gore stands for nothing. He is Clinton without the pretense of charm. He cynically chooses beliefs without the Clinton skill of appearing to be sincere. Gore will be a total laughingstock if he runs again.

Al Gore is done, he was done the minute GWB showed he was not the uneducated dolt that the press portrayed him to be. Had 9/11 not happened, and Bush had a relatively uneventful and mediocre 4 years, Gore may have been able to return in '04 and win. Sadly for Gore, this didn't happen, now his destiny is to at best be the presidential canidate in '04 who will help give rise to the D's 08 canidate, which will most likely be his VP canidate in '04.
Sort of a massive political blunder or disaster, D's '04 canidate will be simply token and used mainly to advance their '08 canidate.

It also depends on whether or not McCain runs for president as an independent. If he does, than the Democrat candidate has a better chance.
Personally, I don't think McCain will run. No independent has ever won. No one who has ever ran as an independent has ever gone on to become president. He would have NO shot at the 2008 Republican nomination. I don't think that the Democrat nomination in 2008 looks very good either. No one who has switched parties (during their political career, so don't get on me about Reagan) has ever become president.
A lot of people are in a box. Al Gore (because this would be his last shot), Hillary, McCain. Bush has really thrown a monkey wrench at a lot of presidential ambitions.

According to the Fox News/Opinion Dynamics Poll, Gore has dropped from a 51 percent favorable rating on Aug. 6-7, 2002, to a mere 37 percent on Oct. 22-23. That is more than enough to secure the RAT nomination since it represents the rabid left (the ones who vote in primaries).

Most gratifying ticket: Sharpton/Rodham in 2004.
