I need to get a calculator to count the number of lies in this article before I debunk them.

"The Marines X Corps?"

It was the 1st Marine Division. The Chinese probably felt like they were fighting a Corps size(three divisions) formation. A single Marine Division handed them their ass on their way out of the resevoir.

I seem to remember the US kicking their butts out of South Korea and fighting them to a standstill. Last I heard there's a still a truce in effect.

This is such drivel - the horde attack was all they had. It was not uncommon, especially up around the Chosin reservoir that during lulls in the fighting our guys had to go out and drag off bodies to open up their fields of fire. The Chinese used so much garlic on their food that our guys could smell them coming.

For an excellent, though long, oral history of the war there's a two volume set by Donald Knox. Max Hastings' treatment is also very good.

If it wasn't for Truman, MacArthur would have conquered all of Korean. We would not have to deal with this North Korean thing ever again. But no we let them go and now, they have nuclear weapons, and the 37,000 American troops in South Korean are almost sitting duck--if and when the North Koreans launch their nuclear/chemical/biological blitzkrieg.

Max Hastings. I don't think I've read a "bad" book by him.

"wave upon human wave of useless frontal attacks ". This was a strategy that erected a mobile barricade in front of our guns by the the use of their fallen bodies. Very clever these guys. They didn't have to carry sandbags.

Did you ever read Max Hastings "Overlord: D-Day and the Battle for Normandy"?

Interesting analysis of the campaign.

"At Unsan they were surrounded for several days, yet they did nothing. They are afraid when their rear is cut off."

I think the Marines have a different version to that one.
