Last night one of the left wing nightly news shows were scaring people saying second hand smoke was a dedly killer and basically they were saying if you've even seen someone smoking you'll probably soon die.

It was incredible.

After all, no one should deny other people's right to fart as much as they want.

The smoke helps to neutralize the fart smells.

As I said previously, I smoked for twenty-three years. I quit because of having an infant daughter in the house with me and to reduce the potential risk to her.
Federal courts are not medically knowledgable to make such decisions and despite the gracious nodding from the smoking community, the court justices often render "quack" rulings. (Ex. 9th Circuit - Pledge of Allegiance)

Would all of the obese (and you know who you are) anti-smokers please shut-up?

When a smoker grabs a cigarette I know that he or she is still functioning the same after the cigarette.

Actually he will function BETTER. His concentration, memory functions will improve while the stress level will go down. In some aspects the effect on productivity will be even greater than with coffee.

"The risks of smoking are greatly exaggerated. So are the costs."

Sigh. Tell that to all the folks in my waiting room....

OK, let's see. Now what was it Ann Coulter said about liberals making arguments?

Oh, yes. I remember.

It seems, doc, like you are using some flimsy anecdotal evidence to address a reasonably well-researched proposition.

Unless all that follows your "sigh" (who let Al Gore in here?) is just liberalspeak for "What an idiot you are!"

In that case you are using ridicule to dismiss any discussion of the proposition.

BTW, Ann Coulter said that you can't have an intelligent discussion with a liberal because all they want to do is to ridicule or insult the other side.

And yes, I am using ridicule to counter your ridicule.

That sounds like a reasonable suggestion, but we travel a lot, & don't always have that option. The restaurants that I frequent while at home are non smoking. If I try a new one & I am not satisfied, I tell the management right then because it means that management is trying to have it both ways.

I lost my grandmother when she was 42. She was full of cancer and never smoked a day in her life. I never got to know my grandmother.

If she was a smoker and died out of cancer 10 years later (smoking could modify/disrupt the dynamics) the blame would be on tobacco.

"I wonder how many prissy noses...."

You keep using that term as if to indimidate, but because smokers are so "undercoated with tar" they can't smell, doesn't make the scent of a trash fire any better....

Smoke if you want to, but don't kid yourself into thinking it's harmless. You may be lucky and live to a vigorours 90, but you sure aren't playing the odds if you smoke.

Listen, you might THINK we are a bunch of boobs, but we KNOW the health hazards! How about alcoholism? How about obesity? Does your Journal tell you the health hazards about this? You know, life is terminal. No one gets out of here alive.

That's like saying some people can survive a shooting and some can't. The key is not to get shot. Tar and nicotine are factors that work against you. They deteriorate, some people slower than others.

Don't know what you pay for a pack of smokes, but you know how much actual tobacco is in that pack of twenty? Farmer John might get $1.25-$1.40 per pound of leaf and there is a minute fraction of a pound in a pack. I had heard (and may be subject to correction) about eighteen cents creates that pack, inclusive of the tobacco, foil, paper, cello, dyes, (optional "filters"), and all. Last I observed, $3.15/pack paid for Floor Sweepings brand. So where's the rest going????

I pay about 8 CENTS per cigarette, since I roll my own.

Where is the rest of the money going? Your STATE! Your lawmakers have bumped up the taxes so high to balance their budgets that it's sinful. What state do you live in? I might have on hand what the smokers contribute to the state economy in your state.

Smoking is not good for you. I would rather have a smoker working for me than a Prozac or Zoloft chemical affected person.

I have been dissed about this when I say: smoking is my relaxation of choice. What do you prefer.....prescription drugs or booze.

Your right! Smoking tobacco does not put a person in la-la land.

Tell it to Mr Magoo who just had quad bypass. I know that I became much healthier when I quit.
