George Mitchell really grates on me. At any rate I put him in the Arab/Islam sympathizer camp. He is of Christian Arab descent, just like James Zogby. James Zogby is shameless shill for Islam who must get paid for his efforts. He has some kind of Arab American institute and is on TV a lot

"I was hoping that I would never have to hear this man speak again. I never did and never will trust him."

Why?

I lurked around here beginning in 1998. I read lots of things on FreeRepublic about Mena and the various connections to the drug dealing.

Here are a couple of links to some of the articles posted on FreeRepublic. Lots more that was on FreeRepublic has been deleated or no longer able to link to.

I remember our own Jim Robinson had lots to say about Mena.

The Mena Twins

A CIA AGENT TALKS: Cocaine, Assassinations, NWO, Bush, Clinton (Part XIII)

"President Bush said in his remarks that the commission will seek every detail, including the YEARS LEADING UP TO 9-11. Looks like he is not going to allow the clinton crowd to get away with their lies."

Wonderful. Kissinger's vice-chairman on the commission will be none other than George Mitchell, of Clinton's successes in Belfast, and palestine.

Overall politically, this is ANOTHER example of Bush putting the opposition in a box.

The time leading up to 9/11/2001 included Clinton's eight years. Contrast this with the FACT Bush had been in office from Jan. 20th to Sept. 11th -- less than eight months.

So with Kissinger as Chair (and Mitchell as VC) I don't expect the commission to hurt Bush, and it could HURT Clinton.

More important, I hope the commission results in consensus for needed reform, to uncontrolled immigration.

I'll admit I'm not a conspiracy theorist, and I have the utmost respect for Jim Robinson, but after looking at the links you provided, I can't help but think it's all tinfoil hat time.

It could be worse, they could have chose Darlin' Arlen Spector.

That would have brought all the intricacies of "Scottish law" into the mix. Wouldn't be prudent.

They can save the cost of the 'investigation'

Lee Harvey Oswald did it acting alone.

Spunky,
Thanks for digging up those links. There was a lot more to it. Without speculation, the fact is Barry Seal was real, was indicted for drug running, was doing clandestine work and was gunned down and Ben-Veniste was his lawyer and was lead counsul for the Dems in the Senate Whitewater hearings. Fact is drug running and money laundering were being investigated with regards to Clinton and Arkansas. Fact is nothing became of it not from lack of leads but follow through. Also as stated in your Mena link Terry Reed's story becomes more substantiated with time as other facts from independent sources became known. This stuff was covered in various main stream newspapers and magazines and not just some right wing talk radio programs and anti-Clinton books. I do not subscribe to Lexus Nexus but I know a lot of info would be brought up in a search there. But the problem is some people do not want to hear about certain things. If we had links to everything I just mentioned and more this Crumb person still would not entertain the notion that their side was involved in something nefarious. It is not being a Doubting Thomas, it is willful blindness. You get no where with such people. The problem was not lack of linked sources it is the dishonoring of their sacred cow.
Cheers,
P.S. regarding the current investigation, if there was gross negligence or even malfeasance there would not be anything other than a whitewash and a call for more funding. That is not evil conspiracy that is just how Washington works regardless of party in charge.

Guiliani or even Ken Starr would have been better; a little prosecutorial and investigative experience.

An appointment to this panel is a political kiss of death. Giuliani is not that dumb.

George Mitchell is still angling for a SCOTUS nod, so he is trying to get on as many blue-ribbon panels as will have him. The contrast of the non-partisan, scientific Kissinger next to the rabidly-partisan attack dog Mitchell is a bizarre thought.

The intelligence commission being created will have 18 months to conduct an investigation into mistakes in spotting clues to the Sept. 11 attacks. It will also devise ways to prevent future attacks.

This commission is not going to be investigating Saudi links to 911. It is not going to be investigating Chinese links to 911. It is not going to be investigating the Clinton Administration. It is not going to be making recommendations about immigration or foreign policy or hiring and firing individuals.

The reason it won't is not some sort of plot by the Faceless Powers behind the CFR. It won't do those things because none of them have anything to do with the task of this commission. Its task is to review the performance of the intelligence agencies. Like, what's responsible for the FBI and the CIA having their heads up their fundaments. It is going to look at things like the constraints laid on the agencies by the congressional Left since the '70's; the lack of coordination between the agencies, etc.

This seems to me the kind of thing that Kissinger might be quite capable at. It doesn't really require a soul, which some doubt that he has, just a brain, which he does surely have. Furthermore, remember that the Church hearings and the subsequent legislation that has eviscerated the CIA were basically liberal Democrats grinding their boots into the corpse of the Nixon Administration in a self-righteous frenzy. Kissinger might have some fairly definite views on that.

True Story:
The K was on the speech circuit a few years back and used security from Israel's Massad to ensure he got home. They were far more thorough about security than the Secret Service agents assigned Bush, Sr. on the same circuit. Those guys were edgy and packin'.
Henry may blow hard but he's not stupid.

With the right results and timing, this commision could spell the end of Al Gore's political career. If it released it's report as the primary season begins in '04 and laid the blame on the Clinton/Gore admin(where it truly belongs) it could be devasting for Gore.
