FBI" by Daniel Nyass; published in the Breaking News section of the Kenyan newspaper East African Standard web site on 28 November
The two missiles fired at the Israeli Arkia plane were old German-made weapons, the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) has said. They said the two missile launchers were in the category of Stringer Shoulder-fire Launcher Marc 4, but which they described as "strange".
An FBI officer at the scene said it was strange the launchers were painted blue and red, which is not their original colour. The officer, who declined to be named, said more FBI agents were on the way from the USA and Nairobi to carry out further investigations.
One of the launchers bore the number 9617, 338806033160.
Two launchers lay 20 metres apart, about 400 metres from the [Moi International] Airport [Mombasa] perimeter fence. This is along the northern part of the airport, near the Jomvu landing lights.
A local resident said at about 8.15 [local time] in the morning, he saw a white unmarked Pajero vehicle driving towards the bush, heard a blast moments later and saw the vehicle driving off at high speed. He said the occupants of the car were none-blacks.
The scene of the missile launching was heavily guarded by members of the [paramilitary] General Service Unit (GSU), regular police, special branch department and National [Security] Intelligence [Service] officers.

Strange that they were able to launch and detonate, but not guide to the target. Strange in deed.

Let's see if we have this straight. Two German-made Stinger missles are fired at an Israeli plane in Kenya and the FBI is investigating? Where are the Israeli and German investigators? Why is the FBI involved? Hmmm. . .

No Stingers. These are old missiles, who are like Stingers. I bet SA-7, made during in the DDR.
The Feds also investigated the bombings on the Embassies, maybe they still got operatives there.
