No, that's not what I'm saying at all. What I'm saying is that we have a vested interest to PREVENT these child pedophile from making their first strike.

I for one am not comfortable with the idea of having to wait until they hurt a child before we do anything. It is better if we are proactive with these guys and flush them out before they actually hurt a child. Again I will say that the techniques used in this case are questionable and should be evaluated to see if there is better way to go about it.

Once a child is violated you can never put their world back together again. Not the way it was before. Being proactive is a necessity.

US v FARNER (texas) "factual impossibility is not a defense if the crime could have been committed had the attendant circumstances been as the actor believed them to be."

As uncomfortable as I am with this conviction in Kansas and as much as I hate to admit it...the above case sums it up rather nicely.

"The key here, folks, is he was charged with ATTEMPTED rape."

Doesn't there have to be some intent along with some force?

If I walk into the local bank with the idea that I could use some extra money for the holidays and my .45 hugging my hip, then I decide not to rob the bank, am I guilty of anything?

Depends on what state you're in and what the concealed carry laws are in that state.

Also, you may be guilty of something but unless you are detained, arrested and charged...

" Depends on what state you're in and what the concealed carry laws are in that state."

In PA, the only restrictions written into law are the Federal buildings, any floor of a building that has a courtROOM (not the whole building necessarily), and schools (and that's iffy), and posted businesses - and I've never seen a sign prohibiting guns. There are challenges to other government offices that are trying to restrict carry.
