[history]
December 3, 2002 -- A New Jersey woman says a telemarketer threatened to rape her when she refused to buy any of the magazines he was peddling.
The Burlington County woman, who asked not to be identified, told WWOR/Channel 9, the man called her several times before leaving an ominous message on her answering machine: "Don't make me rape you, bitch."

The evolution of marketing strategies has resulted in this? I hope someone takes this threat seriously besides the, no doubt, frightened woman. What a sick puppy this telemarketer is.

"The woman didn't answer the phone the next time he called,
and the telemarketer left the recorded rape threat."
What an idiot!

Obviously the telemarker had just got done listening to the shrill commentary of Rush Limbaugh....

My mother used to always order lightbulbs that supposedly lasted 10 times as long as regular ones, for some *sham?* telemarketing firm that was helping the blind or something (blind people selling light bulbs? hmmm)...
After mom passed, I had her old phone number and they would call from time to time. I finally had enough one day and I asked them to remove my telephone number from their list. This woman on the other end of the phone started SCREAMING at me! I hung up the phone, it soon rang back and again she was SCREAMING at me *YOU ARE A MONSTER!" *yikes* I set the phone down, then hung it up a minute or two later, although I must admit they never called again.
This bozo may think he is protected by the caller ID coming up *unknown* but they can trace it, you betcha. Six months or a year in the gray motel and he'll know what it's like to be *threatened* with rape.

Noooo, one hour with her husband, father, sons, brothers, and uncles will do more for this mans attitude than ten years in the grey motel.

I see Carville is now working for a telemarketing firm. My favorite trick for telemarketer's is to tell them -"Oh ya let me go get my credit card, I've been really wanting that..." then set the phone down and come back when I hear a loud beep beep beep...funny how I don't get any call backs!

I work midnights and I'm constantly being awaken by some telemarketer peddling some crap. They are obnoxious as hell. If I were to find a telemarketer out on the street, it would not take much proding at all for me to beat one of those insipid little bastards to a bloody pulp, no sireee.

just tell 'em you're busy right now....ask for his/her home number and tell them you will call them back at home when you have more time. lol

When anybody I don't know calls and asks for either my husband or me, I simply tell them "they" aren't at home.

In NJ , telemarketing is often a " job-of-last-resort ", to which people on probation or parole often gravitate. It is, for the most part, a commission-only job , conducted from "boiler rooms" , set up in local motels , using phones with out-of-state telephone numbers ( to defeat caller ID ).

I had a call last night from an old nasal-voiced lady
(Ernestine comes to mind) with American Express. She started telling me what a valued customer I was and they had quite a deal for me.
Since I was in the middle of cooking burgers on the ol' Weber, I put the phone down so I had two hands to lift the lid and flip the 6 or 7 burgers I had going. When I was done, I quietly picked up the phone to see if she was still there. She was STILL rambling on telling me about this wonderful offer so I put the phone down again.
I went back inside to the kitchen to get some individually wrapped cheese slices and brought them back out where I unwrapped each one and got them ready. I then picked up the phone again and she was STILL TALKING!
Finally after lifting my Weber lid, checking the burgers and adding the cheese, I checked the phone for a third time and it was quiet. She talked for about 7 or 8 minutes without stopping for a response.

I just can't believe people buy things from these people. Obviously they are staying in business somehow.
Just like those people that walk up to you in a clothing store. What do they want??? If I wanted something, would I stand there with my finger up my butt, no, I'd go get you, so get away from me before I walk out and go to the next store. I just don't understand the badgering.
Oh and another pet peeve, "Would you like to try a value meal?" or "Would you like fries with that?" Do they really think I drive up to their freaken window and don't know what I want???? Do they think I'm aimlessly driving around and just ended up at their drive-thru????? Arghhh, these people annoy me.

The perp may well be calling from a "gray-bar" motel" in his capacity as an employee of a telemarketing firm that utilizes convict labor....
