The Silent Invasion
The United States faces an invasion of growing proportions, yet many Americans are unaware that the invasion is already underway. For decades, our border to the south has been as porous as a cheap napkin when it comes to keeping out illegal aliens. Despite the fact that we have an Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS), with laws in place to regulate foreign visitors and to prevent illegal entry to our country, our measures to do both are increasingly ineffective. Some might argue that many in America are even unwilling to attempt to regulate immigration.
According to INS statistics for the year 2000, immigration during the 1990s was surpassed only by that of the years 1901-1910. Immigration from Mexico comprises more than 1/5 of the total number of immigrants from around the world; indeed, the number of immigrants from Mexico is almost as big as the number two and three countries combined! As of 2000, an estimated 8,700,000 illegal immigrants were living in the United States. If that number was estimated at 8,700,000, what must the actual number be of a group which by its very nature seeks to remain uncounted and "below the radar" of the government? Guess what country 44% of those illegals came through? If you guessed Mexico, you deserve a Batman cookie! But what's even scarier is that there are an estimated 115,000 Middle Easterners in the United States illegally. And while not all Middle Easterners are terrorists, what group has committed most of the world's terrorist acts of the past few years? Let me give you a few hints:
Who continually blows up themselves and innocent people in Israel?
Who kidnapped and killed journalist Daniel Pearl?
Who flew two aircraft full of innocent passengers into the World Trade Towers?
Who flew an aircraft full of innocent passengers into the Pentagon?
Who hijacked an aircraft full of innocent passengers and attempted to crash it into who knows what before a group of heroes gave their lives to stop them in Pennsylvania?
Who tried to blow up the U.S.S. Cole?
Who blew up the U.S. embassy in Kenya?
Who blew up the U.S. embassy in Tanzania?
Who tried to blow up the World Trade Towers in 1993?
Who blew up a Pan Am airliner full of innocent people over Scotland in 1988?
Still don't have a clue? Okay, I'll give it to you:
Middle Easterners! Wow, that's a stunning coincidence, isn't it? If you think it is, you're probably a liberal, a Democrat, or likely both.
If there really are only 115,000 illegal Middle Easterners in the U.S., then there are only 115,000 possibilities that another terrorist act may be committed on American soil.
Do you like those odds? When it comes down to it, I don't think even most liberals beam with multicultural glee over those odds. But how many more are here that we don't know about? Gee, if I were a terrorist who wanted to get into the U.S. and blow up some innocent people, where would I try to penetrate the U.S.? Uh, maybe the southern border where about half of the illegal immigrants in America get through?
Arizona is estimated to have the 7th largest number of illegal immigrants, yet groups like Sanctuary Movement, Samaritan Patrol and Humane Borders go out of their way to assist lawbreaking invaders. I'd be far too kind if I said these groups were well meaning but misguided, so I won't waste your time and mine by pretending that. These groups help illegal immigrants by providing aid and comfort, including water stations placed in the desert for illegals. Some would argue that this not only aids illegals in the commission of a criminal offense, but actually encourages other potential invaders to do the same.
This seems to be the height of irresponsibility (being too kind again, here) to not only promote lawlessness, but to encourage illegals to risk their lives in clandestine border crossings. What should be happening is that people in those groups should be arrested and charged as accomplices to a crime if they're caught helping people enter the U.S. illegally.
So is that what the federal and state governments are doing? Don't bet on that one, either. They're turning a blind eye to these accomplice-groups with the same dedication they show toward doing nothing about illegal immigration. But there is a group of people along our southern border that has managed to raise the ire of government officials.
A number of citizens in Arizona are stepping up to the plate and volunteering to do what the governments of the U.S. are either unable or unwilling to do: guard America's southern frontier. With approximately 600 volunteers so far, the newly formed Civil Homeland Defense, led by Chris Simcox, claims to have already begun citizen patrols in Cochise County. According to Simcox, patrol members do not wear uniforms and do not use rifles, carrying only defensive sidearms.
Simcox says he and his group plan to carry out patrol operations for illegal invaders until federal troops or the National Guard are put in place to guard the border (neither the federal government nor the state of Arizona has indicated any inclination to do this).
It appears that some government officials in Arizona are working up a predictable conniption about "vigilantism," even as their apathy grows toward lawlessness, foreign invasion and a major national security breach.
I am not a proponent of vigilantism and would never support people taking the law into their own hands. However, I find it difficult to find fault in the people of Arizona for protecting themselves and their property when their government refuses to provide the protection they have paid for with their taxes--protection they deserve according to the U.S. Constitution (this in contrast to all the social garbage which our government funds without Constitutional authority).
If the only thing these citizens are doing is locating illegal invaders and turning them over to the Border Patrol, then I don't see a problem. Actually, it's rather sad that these people have to spend their own time and money (on top of their misspent tax dollars) to do a job that the government refuses to do. And to add insult to injury, there are many within the federal government (perhaps even our own Republican president?) who want to declare amnesty to those millions of illegal foreign invaders. Am I the only one who sees something wrong with this picture?!
Perhaps Mr. Simcox's group can bring attention to this issue and embarrass state and federal governments into accepting the responsibilities they have neglected for so long.
Despite the fact that the Left demonizes anyone who wants to bring the illegal immigration problem under control, I have newfound confidence that we may yet succeed in bringing law and order to our southern border. Congressman Tom Tancredo (R-CO) recently caught a lot of heat from the Denver Post and others for his efforts to hold the INS accountable for deporting illegal aliens in Colorado. Yet Tancredo won reelection in November with a resounding 67% majority.
Former Colorado Governor Dick Lamm has also pointed out the costs of illegal immigration to Americans from depressed wages and a drain on resources, stating "There is no defense for letting millions become U.S. residents by crossing the borders without permission." Even Senator Trent Lott (R-MS), the U.S. Senate majority leader, recently stated he supports placing troops on the border to guard against illegal immigration and the drug trade.
Support in congress is also growing for a bill to pass along the costs associated with illegal immigration to the countries from which those illegals originate. I think this is an excellent move that should be supported, even if we have to recoup those costs by taking it out of the foreign aid we normally extend to every Tom, Dick and Harry around the world. And it should be applied without exception. I don't advocate hating Mexicans, Arabs, British or Mongolians; when it comes to protecting our borders, there are no colors and only two sides: Americans and everybody else.
We have a unique civilization here in the United States; one we cannot afford to dilute with barbarians as the Romans did in the face of invasion. Just like those Romans of nearly 2,000 years ago, we are at the pinnacle of civilization, affluence and achievement on earth; just like the barbarians, illegal immigrants want the trappings of our civilization without abiding by the system which generates those trappings. Everybody in the world wants a piece of the American pie--whether they hate us or not, they still want to share in our success--but all too often the goose that lays golden eggs gets killed when everybody feels entitled to a piece. Failure to protect our way of life will jeopardize not only the flavor and success of our country, but our very security and well being.
Bill O'Reilly of the O'Reilly Factor on Fox News Channel has been advocating the use of military troops to protect our southern border for some time. At first, I thought his opinion was too extreme. But when I got over the shock to my sense of normalcy, I realized it actually makes a lot of sense--no, it's really the only sensible thing to do. If we were at war and 8,700,000 foreigners invaded our borders, wouldn't we all be alarmed? Wouldn't we mobilize our armed forces to stop that invasion? Then why are we so afraid to do so when the only difference is that this invasion is a slow, silent one?

The Moslems from all over the world are the haters of our civilization. The middle east is full of Christians an Jews who are not supportive of the terrorists or their barbarbaric culture. As a matter of fact the entire country of Israel is considered a part of the middle east. They are our allies, and they are fighting terrorism just like us.
