BANDERA, Texas (Reuters) - A jury has handed a life prison sentence to a Texas man who shot and killed a longtime friend he accused of drinking the last beer in his refrigerator.

Jurors deliberated for less than two hours on Thursday before passing the sentence on Steven Brasher, 42, for the murder of Willie Lawson, 39, on November 5 last year.

"There was only two beers left, so I took one, and I told Willie not to take my last beer," Brasher said in a taped statement that was played during the trial.

Testimony showed Brasher shot Lawson in the head with a pistol after the two began arguing over the missing beer. Brasher maintained the shooting was an accident.

A couple of years ago I went to a Christmas party that had bottles of of "Pale Rider Ale".

It has a label that depicts Clind Eastwood on the pale horse. It ways it was brewed by "Celis Brewery" located in Austin, Texas. Not bad, but of course the worst beer I ever drank was wonderful.

Any body else ever seen this beer or knows about the brewer???

You didn't notice our boy's verbage, he had to be drinking the national beer of Texas, Lone Star. Don't forget it is dirt cheap.

Exactly. There were TWO beers, that was enough for each to have one while they hopped in the truck and made a beer run. Sounds like this guy would have been stingy about it even if they were a couple of 40s. Beer is beer and all of that, but if you have 2 and your friend has none, give him one and head to the store.

Could be a long walk in Bandera, we would not encourage him to drive, but then he was sober enough to hit his friends head with a bullet, so maybe you are correct.

The investigation revealed that the police found two more beers in the freezer. The suspect later stated, "I forgot about them."
