"I agree with the guy who said that Moyers is "irrelevant". However, this pathetic old drunk Moyers is relevant as long as he is absconding in any way with public tax dollars, and that is what he is doing whenver he appears on PBS."And Tommy D. whines about Rush. The Democratic Socialists have a lot in common with the Islamists...both demand 100% compliance, or death to the infidels.
Moyers also personally profits royally through his private industry of publication and sale of all of the works tax dollars paid to create. A Conservative doing the same would have been dragged over the coals by the liberal media to the point the the public would believe they were on a par with Osama Bin Laden. Because he trumpets the Party Line, though, this matter is a non-issue.

Didn't know that. Thanks. I wonder if the people of Marshall will ever build a monumment in his honor.

"Members of the CPB Board spoke out against bias in public broadcasting"The board unanimously voted to reaffirm pubcastings commitment to objectivity in program content."
They were joking, of course.
(Even they couldn't do that with a straight face.)
"He has drunk deeply from the well of spiritual syncretism"
But...what else would you expect? Of a cretin?

"DO NOT support public radio if you consider yourself a conservative - you are directly paying for liberal stories meant to twist the truth."DO NOT support public radio if you do NOT consider yourself a conservative, either.

but you might be suprised how otherwise sane Conservatives will shrink from killing these golden calves. Indeed! Click on my name, and at the bottom of my profile is a list of 100 Republicans who voted NOT to reduce Public Broadcasting just one percente!

Hey Drango! Great personal page!
To all: If the PBS/NPR tax theft scam for leftist propagandization bugs you, then check out Drango's list of guilty Republicans that couldn't bring themselves to do the 'Right' thing.
The rubber will meet the road for Conservatives when we insist that our legislators act in accordance with our principles. Until then we're only playing ping-pong with an enemy that is determined to kill our freedoms, our nation and, given enough power, those that resist their ultimate goals.
If you don't see the problem, you may return to your regularly scheduled programming...

The JFK press secretary was Pierre Salinger. Salinger stayed in the post under LBJ for a short time but resigned to run for the U.S. Senate from CA. He lost to Republican George L. Murphy, even as the LBJ-HHH ticket was sweeping CA. Salinger was later an ABC correspondent for many years and was considered an "expert" in international affairs. Moyers was Salinger's successor, but there may have been someone between Salinger and Moyers. Moyers was to LBJ as Karl Rove is to GWB.

Thanks...
Public Broadcasting survives with bi-partisan support. Many Freepers would be surprised to find "conservative" Republicans funding PBS/NPR but clearly they do.

Durango, Thanks for the great information on PBS/NPR funding!
To all, check Durango's page for MORE detailed information on this topic. Check the roll call for the 1% funding reduction amendment for NPR/PBS. Your legislator might have taken the courageous (?) position of shrinking from the deep (1% for cryin' out loud) cuts in the interests of keeping Big Bird Bill Moyers on the air.

". Salinger was later an ABC correspondent for many years and was considered an "expert" in international affairs. I don't think Moyers strutted on the national political stage until LBJ became president. He may have had a role though with the vice presidency of LBJ.
To: Drango
High standards for objectivity and balance "cannot always be reconciled within the context of a single program or program segment," Coonrod said at the board meeting.Moyers is not "a single program."

"The Public Broadcasting Act recognizes the need to treat subjects of a controversial nature in a fair and balanced way." Let me see if I've got this right. When a majority of the electorate vote for Republicans, it's a "subject of controversial nature?"
To: Drango
Great link - bookmarked for a later. closer. read.
In the section on 'objectivity and balance' they cite their awards and stats that stay on tune with the song they sing. It reminded me of a photograph I once saw of a nest of snakes. The snakes squirmed over, under, around and through each other in a hideous knot of reptilian unity. This is the human equivalent.

Moyers should know...he's one of them(RICH). He's also spoiled and arrogant.
