It's a nice list, but it would fly completely over the heads of most Muslims. Also, it assumes that Muslims should value freedom. But it's a real question of whether they are capable of building a Democracy, even if they are given the chance to do so.

For instance, the Jordanian army is mainly necessary, not to repress freedom but to repress Muslim and Communist fanatics and Palestinian terrorists, who if given the chance would turn a moderately repressive state into a fiendish and violent dictatorship. The situation in Jordan is similar to Turkey, where only the army prevents the fanatics from taking over and rolling back any movement toward modernism. It's similar to Algiers, where voters in a free election immediately voted in a gang of fanatic killers to tyrannize over them.

So maybe we could suggest a shorter list instead:

1. Abandon Islam.

Unfortunately, that probably isn't in the cards.

Unfortunately, I find myself agreeing with your pessimistic assessment.

Agreed. Until they address the prolific injunctions to paranoia, murder, and barbarism found in the Koran, they're hopeless.

But the Koran is itself revered as the word of god incarnate, as transmitted through Mighty Mo. So if you discard the barbarism, you open the whole book to critique.

That doesn't look to be happening at the moment.

The Religion Of Mental Illness is facing some tough times ahead. They may indeed get a few more licks in against the West, but they are eventually going to have their butts kicked, and then it will be time for some serious reflection about the true nature of "allah" and his self-appointed pedophile "messenger."
