You'd think that would be more of a French sport, darling. ;)

Wouldn't that be gallic football?

For those who don't know it's really gallic soccer.

I think all the countries should elect only Muslims for next year's contest since that's the only way they're going to have a chance to "win".

See my #45 on this thread. Turkey was the only Moslem country with a chance to win, and only a Moslem country had a chance to win, therefore...

Only Turkey had a chance to win. The pageant was to choose her runner up.

Turkey, eh?

Islamic country, I'll note.

(Didn't really think US or Israel had a chance, did you?)

There was one other possibility, though I'm not sure she was Moslem. Check out Miss Australia...

I STILL say Miss Israel looks like Julia Roberts...

Aw, come on now. That's just mean.

What has Miss Israel ever done to you?

I think the irony in this is many Muslim women will catch on that they will win these contests and the Miss World will soon be all Muslims. They'll have riots of course every year and have to move the contests from the previous years winner's home country to a non-Muslim country. The Muslims will hate us all the more for giving their women the prizes.

I think just from checking a few profiles that only a few of these women would be interesting to be around for more than 15 minutes. Kenya, Barbados, Slovenia seem to at least have brains.

Like I care.

Beneath the surface, all brains look alike

True! Still, Miss Turkey was at least cute (well, by my standards, and I'm not a guy, so they may be different from you all's standards!).

Miss Russia looked like she was about to bite. So did Miss Spain (although, as a Spanish translator, I usually try to support all things Spanish).

I think I like the ones who smile better than the ones who don't...

Miss Yugoslavia looks like a young Liz Taylor.

Miss Lithuania looks like my husband's late mother and looks more oriental than Miss Japan (all that Slavic blood), and Miss Belgium looks lke a relic leftover from the late 60's.

You obtain the ball by breathing on the opposition!

And that's how the sport of hurling got started, isn't it? ;-)

Miss Kenya looks fetching, and smart too.

Of course, there'll be rioting in Caracas. Venezuelans consider it their birthright to have their representative win every Miss World/Universe competition.

Yes, unfortunately. But many have died in the pursuit of proving the contrary! ;-)

I don't watch or follow beauty pageants. If people want to it's fine by me. I do not understand the thinking behind calling for the Miss World pageant to cancel. They didn't cause any problems. Some lunatics used them and a newspaper article for an excuse to go on a rampage. They didn't instigate it. They didn't cause it. The didn't condone it.

As little as beauty pageants mean to me, riots caused by the mere production of them is beyond me. Imagine the brain process that concludes Mohammad + Beauty Pageant = riots and death to hundreds.

Once again, the ugly side of a "peaceful" (ROTFLMAO) people comes glaring through.
