"...I don't know if Afghanistan has such named highways ..."
We would assign them our own names for our own points of reference.

"...some type of engines that do not require refueling, like nuclear..."
There is a very good reason why nuclear propulsion is confined to water...at least with current technology.

I've got to guess that might have been "released" as a deterent to would-be Jihadis.

"This'll be in the highlight film" - an instant classic!

I got a really quick download, only took about 3 minutes.

Have you guys seen this one? Zoomie redlegs in action. Worth the 35M download.

I think these were howizter shots going off over the horizon, and being tracked onto target via laser on the warship doing the video recording.

Very, VERY cool video, thanks.

>>Is a 20mm projectile as fast as a 105mm round???

Probably faster. Hmmm.

I Googled a table that claims 3500 fps for the 20mm. I can't imagine a 105 is anything nearly as high.

3380 fps for 20mm M56 HEI. Several sites I have searched give 105mm howitzer velocities between 400 and 600 meters per second. I am not sure which gunship took this footage. AC-130H Spectres have 20mm, the AC-130U Spooky II has 25mm.

I've got a capture of a talibunny trying to escape into the mosque while avoiding a "boom-boom", but I'm having trouble accessing my web space. If anyone wants to post it, I'll e-mail it to you.

The C-130 is equipped with a 105mm howitzer. Taking a direct hit could spoil the rest of a terrorist's day.

The Air Force would like a giant platform to replace the B-52 and B-1 in low-risk environments. How about converting C-5s into a platform for delivering our remaining World War II inventory of dumb bombs?

Personally, I was a fan of the old B-52D, which could drop 120 500-pound bombs. A cell of three aircraft could leave a very interesting 1/4 mi. x 2 mi. scene of total devastation. The 150 B-52s used in Linebacker II did some very interesting things to North Vietnam.

The C-5 would make the B-52 look like a Piper Cub. An attack by 50 would convince bin Laden to go to mass.

JDAMs make dumb, iron bombs smart, and turn strategic bombers into close air support assets.

I would be interested to know if we still have serviceable ordnance from the 1942-45 era. Seems to me the casings would be rusted and the explosive deteriorated and unstable after this long.

The capture is blurry, but the white dot just "NE" of the exploding vehicles is a devil headed towards the mosque. The officer onboard can be heard telling the crew that building is off limits.
