The federal government has to pony up cash to help border communities and hospitals cover the costs of emergency medical care to illegal immigrants, the state's two U.S. senators and two congressmen representing border districts said yesterday.

The cost of uncompensated emergency medical services in Arizona is about $100 million, much of that in unpaid care to illegal and uninsured immigrants.

Bush should get them on a three-way call with Vicente Fox, and then hangup.

The problem is widespread all over the U.S. ... Not just the border states.

The question as to illegals is, where does one's loyalty lie? With American or not?

We should add up the unpaid medical expenses of illiegal immigrants in all the United States, then spend that much policing the border for a change.

Here in the People's Republic of Austin, it seems the cops won't even detain a suspected illegal unless he is caught for a third rape offense.

The emergency rooms and maternity services go unpaid all the time, and it is getting harder to find an OB/Gyn because the same bums who have twelve babies by age 40, are the same ones who will find an ambulance chaser to sue the M.D. -Ask my wife, the M.D.

Tally up the Bill. Find an Ambulance chaser to sue the Nation where the Illegal came from for the medical expenses. We'll expand the suit to the Federal Government. Then the Unemployed Americans(displaced by Illegals) Can sue for that nation for taking thier jobs, then they can sue also for Social Security Not paid because they are'nt working, then IF the Illegal used a fake Social Security number to get any assistance... sue them for the amount they used as well.

Do a google search on "emergency medicaid" and you'll see how the federal government is already paying for much of the free medical care we're giving non-citizens. Even prenatal care once they're 2 months away from their due date. You don't even need to be an illegal living and working in the US, this program is open to all people who wish to get their health care here free. They may have hospitals in their own country ---but what does that matter ---we're still happy to cough up the dough.

What part of illegal do they not understand? By all means give them help, it is inhumane to not do so. But when they check out of the hospital the Police should escort them back to the nearist border. Period.

Pre natal care is a 9 month process. A trip to the border will shorten that by about 9 months -1 day.

Second offence, one week jail time. Mexican style. The family is responsible to supply the food.

Good thoughts. Illegals go to hospital for free medical care and we escort them back home.

Simple enough? No?

This is an example where our charity hurts more than it helps. Mexico isn't having to build up it's own hospitals because they can send their citizens to the US for free care but it would be better for them to keep their patients and build a strong health care system of their own. There are jobs in health care and they claim they need jobs down there.

Uh, Gray Davis says it's closer to $21B. Maybe $30B. Yeah, maybe $30B. He'll get back to you on that.

YEP! But no US President will do it. FR should run a candidate next opportunity. That would be a hoot.
