I'm so glad you got your books, Howie. Yeah, I was a bit worried about the resolution of the artwork, but it turned out wonderful, the colors just great. Just what I had in mind, and I'm soooooooo glad that you, the artist extraordinaire, are pleased!

Jelly, that fireplace is absolutely beautiful, and so real it almost feels warm... you are composing music, a true talent with these depiction's of scenes and feelings using complicating graphic. Thank you seems hardly enough.. Bless you my sweet friend.

It reminds me of a special memory in my youth.  There was an radio program  that played throughout the night for years in Chicago area for years. It was called "The Torch Hour", with an old silver-tongued host named Franklyn MacCormack. He would supply each and every date night lucky enough to be near a radio with romantic, soothing poetry and sultry song.
A wise date would make their way to the shores of Lake Michigan and turn up the radio and tune into this station WGN, just in time for his show to start..... He started each program with the same poem...depicting a warm fireplace and two lovers sitting ..as he read ..Why Do I Love You, let me count the ways....Man it would work almost every time...ha! STeam them windows, even in the heat of the summer...and end that song..."the torch is burning"...and it was......sigh...

Perhaps it's just a Wisconsin thing, but I remember friends from Milwaukee talking about going down to Lake Michigan to "Watch the submarine races."

Then again, I could be all wet!!!...hehehe

Very homey scene, Jellybean. They're talking about a possible white Christmas here in New York. If it happens, it will the first one since '95. Well, I have my Irish Mist and I'll sit and look at your fireplace....

We used to watch submarine races while listening to the sounds of Murray the K, the 5th Beatle, ....was it WABC, I forgot, here in NYC.

Here's another one for you to enjoy while drinking that Irish Mist...

Oh the weather outside is frightful
But the fire is so delightful
And since we've no place to go
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.
Curl up with something delightful!!

Omg, Carlo !!

WGN !!

WGN is on my radio from 5:00 a.m. until night!! I only remember Mac Cormic a little, but I picked it up with Wally Phillips and all the rest from the late 60's until now, and continuing. I wish they still had the archieves on the web site of Franklin !! He was the deep voice of the night and the best radio ever offered! Thanks for mentioning him and taking me down memory lane. Great minds.......Let me count the ways...

By the way, do you know if Wally is still with us?

WGN is still the best radio around. Gee, I feel like I know those people! Roy Leonard, Bob Collins, Spike O'Dell, Kathy and Judy, Orion Samuleson, Dick Sutlift, John Williams...etc...but if you went to the sub races with MacCormick..then I know you are cultured and a man with a great heart.

And now.....a great Publisher of the Greatest thing that came out of the Clinton Administration !!

No one who ever listened to his "Torch Hour" -- with the same sincerity in which it was given -- came away quite the same person he was when the "Hour" began........

WHY WE LOVE YOU

Why do we love you --

We love you not only for what you were,
but for what we were when we were with you.

We love you, not only for what you have
made of yourself, but for what you were
making of us.

We love you for ignoring the possibilities
of the fool in us and for laying firm hold
of the possibilities of good in us.

We love you for closing your eyes to the
discord in us, and adding to the music
in us by worshipful speaking.

We love you because you were helping us to
make the lumber of our lives, not a tavern,
but a temple, and of the words of our everyday,
not a reproach, but a song.

We love you because you have done more than
any creed to make us happy.

You have done it with many words, but without a
touch, without a sign.

You have done it by just being yourself.

Perhaps, after all, that is what love means.

(Adapted from Mary Carolyn Davies Poem)
