Were the unedited copies translated at all? The article implies they weren't (good) but doesn't come out and say so. I would like to know for sure if *any* changes were made prior to the security council receiving it.

The UN did not write the report, the Iraqis did.

Well, it was a report provided TO the UN, so they still kinda control the distribution chain.

On a more existential note:
Why does it take 11,807 pages to say "We don't have any WMDs?"

Why does it take 11,807 pages to say "We don't have any WMDs?"It's a detailed list of where weapons of mass destruction don't exist, how many and what types don't exist at each location, and how many / what types never existed and were subsequently destroyed.

Well, I give it three months before it is leaked to the press by one of these governments.

It is reported that when Former President Clinton was informed that the US would receive an uncensored copy of the Iraqi report, he muttered something incoherent to the effect of "I'm gonna be hung", wet his pants and passed out. Senator Clinton was unavailable for comment. Her staff said that she was having a "box" lunch.

Read as :US to get heavily edited edition.

I have heard that the UN resolution requires Iraq to describe not only WMD, but also its existing 'dual use' technologies. That is, technologies that could be used for WMD or for non-WMD uses--eg, growing agents for bacteria can grow pharmaceuticals or nasty bugs. I suspect the the bulk of the report contains all dual use technologies that are in fact being used outside the WMD process.
This will give Blix a lot of stuff to chase that is absolutely meaningless and occupy a lot of time doing it. He will oblige.
