Very nice. But you have to make the image size (bytes) smaller for the internet. The way post # 8 did. Your 500,000 bytes versus 30,000 bytes.

Photo Shop type programs can do this.

All I am saying is Jesus Christ is the reason for Christmas, which is a celebration of his birth and there is no mention of it on the "Holiday Card" which I find offensive.

DITTOS! I will not buy Christmas cards unless they say Merry Christmas.

This past weekend I purchased Christmas postage stamps and he handed me SNOWMEN stamps!!!!
I asked , "Do you have any with a religious theme?"
He did, and I bought them, they are beautiful!

Besides America is 90% Christian.

I envision Christ shaking his head in frustration that you and people like you of all faiths cannot come together at this Holy time and be tolerant of one another.

My sister is a Christian and she thinks that Catholics are Satan's religion. How crazy is that?! She's just as sure about that as you are sure that your Christianity is being mocked by this card sent by our President to wish Americans love and peace.

Instead of nick picking what we dislike about this or that pettiness, let's love each other like Christ intended us to do.

What have I said that is in tolerant? If it were not for Christ...none of the other religions/holidays would even be celebrated. They all felt attacked and wanted equal standing in the name of tolerance/fairness at the expense of Christ. That is all I am saying...it is so bad that people feel like they can not even say Merry Christmas anymore...that is SAD.

I don't think it is sad that anyone, including the president, be respectful when sending greetings. Were he sending a personal card to YOU, NYCatholic, knowing your faith, then perhaps he would have selected one with a nativity scene on it. But he is sending greetings to people, whose faith he does not know. This is a nice expression of holiday greeting, tasteful and refined unlike that which the previous occupants of the WH might have sent.

When i send to my Christmas list, i send the nativity scene ones to the nuns at my kids Catholic school and others that share MY faith. But i have friends of all religions, and i will send the snowman ones to them, because they do not celebrate my holiday. Christmas cards are an expression of friendship and love to those around us. Christ would approve of that sentiment, don't you think?

and by the way, i DO agree with your sentiment that it is sad that people can't say Merry Christmas anymore. My kids go to Catholic school for precisely that reason, so that they may discuss their faith and celebrate the religious holidays. in the DC area, the public schools are PC to a fault.

Instead of nick picking what we dislike about this or that pettiness, let's love each other like Christ intended us to do.

It seems a sad impossibility. So many religions speaking about "peace" and "love", yet those very qualities are painfully absent from each when it comes to interfaith tolerance...especially at holiday times.

If God exists, he evidently loves diversity (think of all the different cultures and civilizations that have or do exist). Why then would he not approve of the many "flavors" of believers?

I received one also. I don't know if you just have to be a registered Repuplican or have contributed money. I sent the RNC $25 last summer and have gotten the Christmas card and an autographed picture of President Bush.

I also think it is a lovely card; I was pleased to receive it. We've come a long way with that old house even the Clinton's couldn't destroy it though lord knows they tried!

I received one as well. I am not sure if it was because I contributed. I also sent George and Laura our family Christmas Card last year with our crazy family newsletter where we all talk about favorite movie, vegetable, and other family events. I was proud to get it. I also think they got the cards out early this year because George will be busy later in the month.

You imply intolerance by expecting GWB to send out cards stating Merry Christmas, when in fact there are many in this nation who don't believe in Jesus Christ.

Just for you and other fussbudgets he should employ a staff to send appropriate cards to each of the various religions?

And you're positive that other religions wanted tolerance/fairness at the expense of Christ? Sure, they are always a few nutballs like my sister but I believe in the basic goodness of people in this world. Those people who just want to celebrate their Holy Days and not have them ignored, mocked or misunderstood.

I never have a problem with saying Merry Christmas because I don't allow political correctness to rule my feelings. And hey, if I offend someone, oh well. I certainly don't do it out of malice. If someone one wishes me a Happy Hanukkah or Kwanzaa I thank them with a smile and let them know I'm a Christian graciously.

I guess Bush takes his past remarks about representing all Americans seriously on this Holiday Season. God Bless him.

This a “safe” Holiday card.

The media would have loved a manger scene though.

They would have a feeding frenzy!
