The White House told a visiting Chinese general yesterday that comments he made in 1995 suggesting China would use nuclear weapons against Los Angeles were unacceptable.

The discussion came during a meeting between Chinese Lt. Gen. Xiong Guankai, deputy chief of staff for intelligence, and White House National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice.

Miss Rice "chose to meet with Gen. Xiong to underscore our view of international security and particularly the issue of Taiwan," a senior administration official said of the meeting.

She could have my children!!!

National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice is one smart lady. By meeting with this general, she was able to directly tell him that his threat against the US in 1995 was not forgotten and his present moves to arm China in order to take Taiwan are dangerous.

This is exactly what we must do when a foreign power crosses the line. President Bush has picked a top notch adviser with Rice.

Seems to me the issue is not about Taiwan. The issue is about telling America how it should do its business in general. Condi is doing her job alright. Nice to hear that after 5 years of Clinton we finaly have someone doing their job instead of playing the saxophone.

The world is meant to turn according to Condi, and let it be that way.

And to think that Bush could have picked someone really qualified for this job like Conyers, or Jackson's kid, or Cleo Fields, or Madaelin Not So Bright.

I disagree, since she's not pro-life.

But I am happy with the job she is doing as NSA...and besides, I enjoy watching her dress down a ChiCom General! ;-)

I'd vote for her over the Sink Emperor's consort, of which 2008 is the likely timeframe.

I will never vote for a pro-abortion candidate, no matter how attractive or likely of success.

Nothing like a little face-to-face correction of at least one of S(l)ick Willie's mistakes.

I would say the president has as much to do with the abortion issue as Ronald McDonald has to do with the quality of your cheeseburger.
It will have to be settled in the courts. Those courts will have to have constructionist judges, and she would appoint people of that stripe - and that's about as close as a pres could get to affecting the issue.

I will just say that IMO your argument has some internal inconsistencies, and leave it at that.

Your point, well taken. Though, given that scenario, that abstention would facilitate a(nother) communist (and hence truly "pro-abortion") into office.
