HOUSTON - Investigators with Children's Protective Services are looking into the case of a six-year-old girl who they believe could be in danger.
League City police say photographs confiscated from her home show the little girl was watching while her mother performed explicit sex acts.
The child's father is outraged because he says he tried to get something done six months ago. He told KHOU-TV he found sexually explicit negatives that included his daughter back in May.
"I was mad because my daughter was not supposed to look at that," he says. "She is not that age to look at that."
League City police say the pictures show the child watching her mother engaged in sex acts with another woman.
Last Friday, League City officers arrested 21-year-old Janie Melendez and charged her with indecency with a child. She was later released on bond.
The father says he showed the pictures to a CPS caseworker six months ago, but nothing happened. "That's nothing right," he says. "I don't understand why not."
CPS spokesperson Judy Hay say they investigated back then, but found no evidence of sexual or physical abuse.
"This child is telling us of a very appropriate life with her mother," Hay says.
Hay admits they could have done more. "We could have stayed involved with Mom," she says. "We didn't do that. We could have asked for drug and alcohol assessment. We didn't do that. We could have provided monitoring. We didn't."
The mother has agreed to let CPS psychiatrists examine the child. They will determine whether the girl should be placed in foster care.

Unbelievable. "Appropriate" is probably the last word that should be used for this situation.
Sounds like Harris county CPS is run by lesbians.

There has to be more to this..Janie Melendez is 21? And her daughter is 6? Janie Melendez had the kid when she was 14? Why is that so hard to believe? Happens all the time in today's liberal schools. I can remember several girls pregnant at my middle school.

Because the mother is a lesbian. Read a little more carefully. The article says the pics were of her mother with another WOMAN.

I assume she followed the standard procedure and got a restraining order against him.
With that in his file, it's almost impossible for him to gain custody.
And all she has to do is bait him enough so that he starts screaming at her in front of a witness. Then she's got enough to go into court with.

I believe he DID read carefully. The FATHER complained six months ago to CPS. So why is he not considered for custody??

Is it any wonder why this mother would think it was normal behavior to have her daughter observe. After all the mother was screwing around at 14 or 15.
At least she didn't have an abortion. That's one postive thing about this story.

Why, what a silly thing to say! How many times does it have to be proven... er- stated that men are completely incapable of playing any role whatsoever in the parenting of children?
I suggest you consult your P.C. Constitution before we send you off to the re-education camps!

If the kid's birth was at age 15, underage intercourse began then at age 14, or even younger.
