you know, i love this place. i pick up odd little bits o'knowledge everyday here. it's good to know where to turn for a quick answer from sensible folks. imagine the collective brainpower of FR. we seem to have a lil' bit of everything here. so i have a few quick and easy (humorous) ones for ya all....

1.which operating system is best for my computer? 2.what church should i join? 3.what car should i buy? hehe.....imagine these threads

federal buildings don't pay local property taxes. which is how schools get funded.


But none of the federal buildings listed on this memo are even IN our district. (??)

I graduated highschool in the 80's and I lived in a military town. We took home those "Federal Cards", as they were called, every school year for the whole 12 years. These are nothing new.

Curious though why the Post Office and FBI would be excluded

As a Postal employee, I'm pretty sure the Postal Service doesn't provide us any kind of housing. Don't know about the FBI. State Parks Service though provide housing for some Park employees - they then wouldn't pay the property tax that supports the schools in PA...
