That was ever such a brief period.

Before 1940, actors were seen as what they are, pretenders and usually not much more in real life.
For perhaps one generation we had normal people as actors, before they morphed back into a group of morons with illusions of grandeur...
Has to be the money they have thrown at them (made possible by sales). Same phenomenon that is occuring in sports.
