I think he made a good speech. He said he was trying to honor a man, Strom Thurmond, who landed at Normandy. I don't think Lott did anything wrong. I think he is being demonized and crucified as all conservatives and Christians always are. But on the other hand, I have called for him to resign ever since he said to David Schippers on impeachment in senate of Bubba Clinton "You're not dumping this sh*t in my lap are you" We had Clinton by the b*lls and Trent didn't have ANY.

I respectfully disagree. This isn't a Clinton moment.

Lott's taken responsibility, denied the awful charges, apologized for his stupidity and has already made arrangements to work directly with the black community.

Yup, I've already emailed my Senators AND Lott regarding this. Lott has always been a wimp, always will be and won't every change.

"I'm not about to resign"

Now, he's trying to say that Simon from IL, a Senator, said "no way have I read into that what others have conferred" Jeffords said "this is not the Trent Lott that I know".

Non, think that Simon is going to stand by those words?

I support him, too. Whether he remains as MJL is up to him. He should not be railroaded by race pimps and the self-righteous.

ditto,, and double ditto

since when do the demRATS decide who works for the republican party,, and just what do those calling for his resignation ( from the republican side ) expect will happen? You think the demRATS will change,,suddenly joining the ranks of those who actually think,,? will the race baiting stop ? I think NOT ,,, tell the demRATs to shove it and move on.. when the senate decides who will lead,, those who know Trent best,, I hope his still leads the party with the class and dignity he has shown in the past,,,

As for those clammoring for him to resign,,, remember Reagan's quote,, the 11th commandment,,, ??????

Are you people serious?

I mean is Lott actually saying he's gonna appear on BET?

And if so, what is that supposed to mean?

Tell me you're kidding!

So Lott is saying he had "a platonic Father-Son relationship with Thurmond."

He claims that Juneteenth, "I did that."

So glad Jim Jeffords can vouch for Lott...And that Charles Rangel and he worked "together" -- there that should prove something...

So much for "changing the tone in Washington"...

You would first have to kick out the RATS before you even begin to change the tone.

I am curious to find out why the Clintons are so quite. Could it be that they are pulling strings behind the scenes to keep this in the "news"? NAAAHHH! They would NEVER be so "mean-spirited". GAG!

First Trent Lott and now Kissinger. Why would ANYONE want to go to that hell hole in Washington and try to change anything?! You only end up getting trashed by the TRASH!

Innis is a good man and is fairly conservative. In the summer of 2000, CORE hosted a dinner at which Gov. George W. Bush was the keynote speaker.

CORE is more about encouraging and helping blacks to succeed, as opposed to being professional whiners and perpetual victims.

"Will he butch up and act like a man, or is he still Tom Daschle's wet dishrag?"

Yes.

If he agrees to power share,

Now that is something we can truly get rid of him for. I know it's shameless but I hate losing anything

Platonic relationship? Next comes "I did not have sexual relationship with that senator, Strom Thurmond."

Wow. This is a rough crowd.

How many of us could prove a negative?

Why isn't anyone angry that the media has put him in this position.

When did "sheets" have to do this?

Not good. Lott is doing OK, but he should have had the grace to bow out. He has placed his perception of his own interest ahead of the country and the party. Out with him!
