I disagree with you 100%. Your position to abandon the majoruty to be an Idealogue just ensures that the DemoRats regain control. I like a pragmatic approach where we concede that in states like CA pro-choice loses. Would we be better withg Riordan than Davis or don't you look that far ahead?

I don't know.....usually his SUnday headlines are more "teasers" without substance. This is a pretty direct and clear headline.

I do not want Lott to be railroaded over a vague statement and become a trophy for the Left.

Lott is not being railroaded, he brought this on himself. His homage to Thurmond as Dixiecrat wasn't vague, it was stupefyingly ill-advised at best. He had opportunities to get out in front of this early, and failed, and failed, and failed again.

Playing revisionist (to give Trent the benefit of the doubt) with the Dixiecrats is a hobby better suited for fringe-types, not our Senate Majority Leader.

Unfortunately Howlin, we seen to be outnumbered on this issue.

I have personally learned much about the party as a result of this scurrilous attack on Lott.

I have learned that petty grudges dating back to impeachment, have blinded my fellow conservatives to the truth.

I have learned that northern conservatives still believe that Southerners are all racist.

I have come to realize that the republican party is breaking up from within, and the Rats will win this one in the end. They are now laughing in the wings as this passion play of political insult goes on and on.

We, as the republican party, cannot overcome the simplest of problems when the race card is played. It is our weak point as a party and the rats have used it like a knife. If we cannot rise above this then all is lost. We will be the minority party in short order and socialism will win the prize. All of this due to short sighted political grudges and misconception's.

Right. He is a RINO, but Dole is a decent man and I like him. He would not pull a Lott.

I agree with you-

He Must step down as Leader- They may be satisfied with Trent Lott.

"But the United States Senate deserves better leadership than Trent Lott.

The American people deserve a Republican leader that reflects their highest values." "Character Matters"

I'm with you. Lott's problems are all self-inflicted. And maybe the next Majority Leader will be someone who's FBI file won't make such interesting reading. And who won't be quite so amenable to whatever Tiny Tom and the Dems want to do...

I hope your proud of the damage you are doing to the conservatives.

Get your brain around the fact that this is entirely about Trent Lott and his abysmal judgement. When he leaped off the cliff, it's not our fault we couldn't rescind the law of gravity.

To give you some perspective: I didn't want Lott as Majority Leader, but once he was re-elected, I didn't want him to self-desctruct. Had I been on his speechwriting staff helping him with his tribute to Thurmond, I'd have been screaming at him not to go down the road with the Dixiecrats the way that he did.

Unfortunately, Trent Lott served the Democrats his own head on a platter, and only he had the ability, and only for a short time, to take it off again. He didn't. Now life is moving on.

Lott is not being railroaded, he brought this on himself.

His only failure was to get into politics in the first place.

Try a little mental exercise!

Pretend that you were at the birthday party and try to find a way to compliment the 100 year old fart without the possibility of someone making a issue about it!

I did, and I failed every time.

Lott's only other option would have been to not show up.

The dems want a more leaning left moderate republican ML as they are scared crapless at the judicial nominees and partial birth abortion. Santorum is best choice but no matter what the dems gotta get over their minority and face the fact their commie issues ain't gonna see light.
