This is simply false to the facts. Lott's remarks were made on December 5. Conservatives were denouncing Lott's remarks on principle by Monday the 9th, before the major media picked up on it, and before Jackson, Sharpton, and the Democrats did. And it wasn't conservative political strategists who started this, it came from the internet grassroots, the bloggers, who are mostly younger conservatives or libertarians

Well considering there are no links or references to articles to prove this. I guess I'll just have to take your word for it. Just as you had to do with mine. At this point we're all revisionists, I think that was the term that I read, Kurtz included. But let me make sure I understand what you're saying the weblogs were commenting about:

That Lott made a comment that he wished Thurmon would have won because he was longing for the segregationists days of long ago. Did they happen to mention what problems he was talking about?
Gosh, if I wasn't so skeptical and cynical of the Wash Post I could possibly believe Kurtz's article. We'll see what happens.

I don't think he's racist, I just think he's terminally stupid (option A). Therefore, he's qualified to represent Mississippi, but not the Senate Republicans.

No, you are a sleazy Jesse Jackson clone who is perfectly willing to manufacture RACIST RACIST RACIST slander from whole cloth to further your political agenda. I don't expect you to have enough itegrity to admit it.

Trent Lott is either a vile racist or he is not. The fact that you want it both ways betrays what you really are, Jesse.

These are from a search I did on "Frist on the Issues". Doesn't sound very pro-abortion to me.

It turns out I was partially mistaken. After completing my search of his voting record, Frist declares himself as pro-life while supporting abortions in the cases of rape and incest which amount to 2% of all abortions performed. Frist also voted in favor of federal funding for the grisly practice of embryonic stem-cell research which destroys human life. My statements that he was pro-choice stemmed from a few of his earlier votes against the pro-life cause rather than his statements of his position on abortion. That being the case, I am sending this out to everyone I remember that challenged my earlier and largely erroneous statements that Frist was pro-choice which turned out to be largely in error since in fact he is nominally pro-life. Given this new information, Frist would be a better choice than McConnell based on his voting record, but an inferior choice when compared to Nichols, Kyl, Santorum and others who have substantially more conservative voting records.
